The vets were lovely with her and it was the same vet that did her "op" and he was great with her - however she let him touch her scar and back end and I haven't been able to do that for a week!!!

it does sound as if she may have been a bit sore, which would explain some of her nervousness and grumblings, especially being in a new place too. How is she settling in with you now? I do hope all is going well.

She looks so content in those photos :D

She really has fallen on her paws finding her forever home with you :j

Hope she's OK after her trip to the vets.

She has been great after the vets :) However this evenings tablets she ate the ham and spat one of the tablets out:eek:  so I had to put it in more ham (cheeky monkey!):D
She actually ate some of his Kong biscuit today from the KONG because I wrapped it in ham but left the rest:rolleyes: any ideas on how to get her to interact with the actual KONG?

I managed to wash her back end tonight:j JUST!!!!but no to the brushing no matter how I tried to persuade her/entice her with treats.

Her stitches look a little better today I am hoping once the antibiotics kick in they will look a lot better! She is certainly less bothered about them now anyway.

Me and DS had a bath tonight and it was hilarious watching her face when we got shampoo on our hair and watching us disappearing into the bath to rinse it off. She was wagging her tail so much I thought it would fall off:rotfl:

I find Tesco Value pate is the best way to give tablets to my crafty dog - or dairylea! She's so greedy she wolfs it down and we never see the tablet again! :rotfl:

Peanut butter smeared inside the kong :) then stick the biscuit in afterwards ;) Or a tiny bit of pate, or primula cheese or whatever her favourite treat is if it can be smeared ;) The trick is not to give too much - it doesn't take much to keep them interested really :)

I'm glad you posted about her being a little portly... I didn't want to say hehehehe

Don't worry she'll soon run it off when she's fighting fit again :) I was paranoid as anything when kira was done but she was fine. Infact I haven't heard many stories of dogs that have had really bad problems from spaying - a couple have had infected stitches where they get them dirty or lick them when people aren't watching but nothing that anti-biotics can't take care off :)

    YOU'RE DOING FINE! :)

As for giving tablets... Kira just thinks they're treats... they don't even touch the sides so no need for ham :rotfl:

The cats on the other hand require welding gloves and a stand by paramedic before I try and give them pills!

She is so cute - we have a springer just like her. You have lots of fun ahead!

Hope she is taking her medication OK now and getting better. Mine learnt off the cats and can eat her way round any medication now leaving it behind...............

I noticed she was big when we first saw her but didn't want to mention it at the rescue in case they thought I would starve her!! but they mentioned it,thankfully, because she bled a lot due to her size when she was speyed.
I fully intend not to spoil her and when she begs now she doesn't get anything!!! and believe me she begs at EVERYTHING:rotfl: and also she will be going on long walks with us too!!
They weighed her at the vets the other day and she was 25kilos:eek: OMG!!!

I tried the peanut butter, she didn't want it, tried apple sauce, didn't want it either. I will be trying the pate I think, thanks;) :T

  • I get a little cube of cheese and stick the tablet inside it - my dog catches and swallows any treats you give her, so I just chuck the cube of cheese at her, and she wolfs it down! easy!!

I find that cheese is the answer to most dog problems in this house!! (training, distraction, tablet giving, etc!)

You might find what she doesn't fancy now she might fancy when she's a little better - we all know that being poorly can do funny things to our tastebuds and especially when you're on anti biotics :)
and ok I have a dog that would eat ANYTHING... oddly she's particularly fond of applecores... I swear if the fruitbowl was in reach she'd nick the apples!
