hi shopgirl....sorry its taken so long for me to post again...:o life has gotten in the way over the past couple of weeks but i will be posting rubbish on your thread from now on...promise!!:rotfl:
you are doing so well...congrats on cancelling that insurance!!:A
shoes....aargh!!! I hate shopping of any description and clothes and shoe shopping are the worst  ....i always wear baseball boots...day in day out...and have to replace about once a year...i usually ask for them as a birthday gift so never have to worry about expenditure!!:D
growing kids....scary... i am also of the short variety so by the time my babies got to double figures they already were taller than me!! on the plus side, it did stop dd from nicking every item of clothing i owned!!
anyway, less of the drivel...well done on your progress so far, keep up the good work and have a great time away from the job next week...:D0 -

and the drivel begins......:D
no, i don't like shopping...i would rather stay at home and flay myself alive than shop...my dd despairs of me, she is a true girlie girl (sorry if that offends anyone, but it's true!!)...she loves shopping, handbags, shoes, makeup and all of those things that i really just don't understand...:o most of my male friends, when discussing females, regularly tell me that i 'don't count' and my old female boss (who owned over a hundred pairs of shoes and fifty handbags  why????!!!) used to call me the 'chick with a d*** ' !!! (again, sorry if anyone is offended!).....i really can't get my head around the attraction of shopping..
dd is dragging me christmas shopping with her in december, she wanted to go early dec, but it's going to take a while for me to brace myself for the event so i have told her we are going on the 20th!! there is no hope....:rotfl:0 -

I have to admitt that I'm not a fan of shopping but I wouldn't go that far!
Currently studying for a Diploma - wish me luck

I too would rather stick hot pins in my eyes than go shopping. But I really need some shoes to keep me feet warm & dry! My kids go to a school full of yummy mummy types so I can't really get away with wearing wellies (though mine are funky and stripey!).
Anyway, back on topic (hhhu hum!).
I can't believe I didn't think to mention it sooner about the SO for the insurance. Sorry 'bout that! As I said, I did it when I first got rid of the insurance policy that DH set up when they rang to offer a free 6 month trial (he shouldn't be allowed to talk to sales people on the phone!). He didn't want to cancel it as it would pay out after 15 years if we didn't use it. It didn't earn any interest though so I crunched the numbers and saw that the amount it would save on the mortgage went over and above what we lost from having paid into it for nearly a year. So it went!
I also became very anal and started using shopping vouchers all the time. As soon as I got home from the shop I would work out how much I had saved in vouchers and pay that off the mortgage. I have to say that habit has gone now what with all of the price hikes. I went to the supermarket last night and was horrified about the price of food. All of the value ranges seem to be being removed and rebranded (smaller packets higher prices).
Just got emailed mumof4's allotment plan so I'm going to try and emulate it on smaller scale in my back garden and see if I can get any veggies to grow out the front. Ah well. Ha ha! Your dd sounds like my kind of girl...I too am of the girlie girl persuasion! I love to shop (eyes glaze over in fabulous shoe daydream...;) ) Oooh! You're not offensive...I've heard worse!!!
Kaz - you're very organised with the vouchers, etc. Perhaps things will calm down soon and you can get back to it. It's definately something else I can try. Thanks. Good luck with your garden. I'm going to put my name down for an allotment...hopefully I'll be able to feed myself with lots of lovely veg next year (if I can get one that fast!) PS. Your wellies sound fab!:DMBNA - [STRIKE]£7068.60 [/STRIKE] £7060.00 Egg - 1422.35 A&L - [STRIKE]£249.32[/STRIKE] £215.00Loan - £13279.50 :rolleyes:0 -
I obviously can't comment on shopping for fear of a non-PC comment either way!!!
Focused trips just 3 times a year should be enough for anyone (well, it is enough for me!) but there's always the internet for the Christmas shopping and I intend to try to get some ideas drafted with OH and see what I can get via the companies listed on Quidco.0 -
Oh yes! You chaps have to be careful!!!
I have already started the Christmas shopping and have got all 3 presents bought through Quidco...which is all new and exciting for me, but it's a wonderful thing! I didn't know it existed until a few weeks ago!MBNA - [STRIKE]£7068.60 [/STRIKE] £7060.00 Egg - 1422.35 A&L - [STRIKE]£249.32[/STRIKE] £215.00Loan - £13279.50 :rolleyes:0 -
I've only made limited use of Quidco and TopCashBack so intend to try to make these work for us this year.0
