FB, good to see you are so out of practice with the chat up lines; your OH must have a view on that?financialbliss wrote: »I'm sad enough to know my mortgage account off the top of my head (11 digits) - I rattled it off and this didn't seem to impress the girl behind the counter.

Started the mortgage in October1994 at 29yrs 6mnths old, and if my new plan holds, hope to be 100%offset by 44yrs old and clear at 45yrs old reducing 25yr mortgage to about 15yrs and 4mnths.
Never thought this would be the case in the early days especially when after 3yrs daughter was born and decreased disposable income hit our OP ability which dropped back; so do keep up your efforts. Like water washing over rock, slowly, imperceptibly the rock wears away.
We remortgaged in 2006 and reduced term by 3yrs and 4mths based on the overpayments from the start. Then offset and increased OP have further enhanced this with even more focus since I joined MSE & MFW earlier this year.0 -

It is...i went there in 2003 and i can highly recommend it!!!
must admit though, if i hadn't found this site, i would probably not be going back for another 20 years...:o it makes the challenge of paying off my mortgage all the more appealing...:D0 -
Stuart - thanks for the encouraging words...I'm certainly keen to do as much as possible with it, however, I think it will be a more gung ho effort after Christmas.
Frazz - Maybe I should find something to aim for at then end to reward myself for all that effort...although, as it will be a very long time, I'll probably change my mind a few hundred times!:D
This month (Nov) should be a relatively cheap month. I don't have too many plans (apart from a steam train ride to watch a firework display!). I do however need to finish off my Christmas shopping...;)MBNA - [STRIKE]£7068.60 [/STRIKE] £7060.00 Egg - 1422.35 A&L - [STRIKE]£249.32[/STRIKE] £215.00Loan - £13279.50 :rolleyes:0 -

Well, it's the weekend at last! A bit of a long week this week. I could do with another half term!
Good news (something I know Financial Bliss will be VERY jealous of:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: )...I got a surprise bargain this week. A fabulous jewelled handbag worth £155, for £10!!! Bargain! Don't worry, it's all above board...bankrupt store, not back of lorry:rotfl: Woo hoo!:j
Hope you all had a grand week!MBNA - [STRIKE]£7068.60 [/STRIKE] £7060.00 Egg - 1422.35 A&L - [STRIKE]£249.32[/STRIKE] £215.00Loan - £13279.50 :rolleyes:0 -
