This same story (about the FA ticket prosecution) also was featured on BBC Radio 4 You and Yours this week. It can be heard via the BBC IPlayer.

I think the only way this can be stopped is to ban all secondary ticket agencies. Even the so-called good ones usually charge way over the original cover price.

Has anyone got any advice for me please? I bought 2 tickets from these scum bags on 28th Sept and they took money (£75) from my account on 1st Oct. Have I got any chance of getting my money back?

    Hope so......

    by credit or debit card?

credit card you will, or debit card, call your bank and explain the situation to them, you may be able to do a chargeback

I paid with debit card - guess I'll have to call my bank then - emailed Allcharge - the company that took the money for them, but they have ignored me :(
  • Trying to outlaw all secondary ticket agencies failed in court this year I believe, only selling tickets to football and the Olympics is illegal in the UK therefore most of these agencies are based outside of the UK.
In order to ensure that we know who the 'good' and 'not so good' agencies are I think we should state good experiences rather than everyone doing thee own research.

After not receiving my tickets from papertickets I decided to research all the ticket agencies which were selling Oasis tickets - there were alot.

From a recomendation I decided to use www.sohotickets.com - although I paid over the face value - £75 - they did send the tickets to my address 1 week before the concert.
If people listed good experiences then we could completely ignore the new and 'untested' agencies. I paid the price but I found a 'good' one second time around.

But why should people pay over the odds for these tickets? All that is happening is that these agencies are buying up large blocks of them and then selling them on at inflated prices. That is unfair on the ordinary members of the public who find that the only way to obtain a ticket is to pay these rip-off merchants.

The low-cost airlines have the right idea. They charge a very high fee for a name change on a ticket. One reason for this is to prevent secondary sellers buying the tickets and selling them on at an inflated price.

I know it's slightly different with concert tickets, because their is no name on them, but surely some system could be devised to put these secondary sellers out of business.

More evidence that these secondary ticket agencies should be closed down, or at least be better regulated :-

Ok, this is what many people believe, including me but after a bit of reseach I found this to be not the case (not 100%) if you look on ebay for example, how many people simply buy to sell.. I have seen on many occasions (10+ available)... now if you look at the feedback of these sellers, although they may be 100% - all the transactions involve tickets.. so a person with 100+ feedback has similar purchased 100 tickets to sell - is this legal, yes - is this fair to normal fans- definitely not.

My opinion is to limit the number of tickets one person can buy rather than 8 make it to 4... If you thought that ticket agencies simply buy all the tickets then this is a mistake - simply look on a major ticket agent, if they purchased all the tickets that they have listed on their site then this would cost millions - its the ebayers who simply buy to sell at extortionate prices which need controlling. Also, do they pay tax on this profit, I think not
