I still haven't tried my 5p sauce but will.
I bought some 7p curry noodles today and thought they might be nice put in the sauce. I reckon 5 packs of noodles and a jar of sauce and we could feed five of us for 40p ! Think I might want some veggies added but if times were hard........

Looked in my Tesco last night and this had gone up too 9p a tin!! So far I have only used it for dipping chips in mmmmmmmmm....... but I think that combined with some meat and veg it will make a very reasonable meal.
    Slightly bitter

Yep, just checked online and it is now 9p.got

I haven't got a clue how Tesco work out their price increases. I know 4p was cheap but to increase it to 9p overnight is a big percentage increase.

I use Asda's Curry Sauce at 4P a jar, its very similar to Homepride's cook in curry sauce. I'm using it tonight to make a chicken curry, I usually add sliced pepper, onion, and mushrooms along with the chicken. I serve it with rice and a few chips (naughty I know, but I lurvve chips and curry lol)

Exactly the same here, Jenie - but I use diced turkey thigh instead of chicken. I've also used turkey mince.

Hi Olliebeak, yes I've tried it with turkey too, I buy which ever is the best price at the time, the curry sauce is really good and makes a lovely meal. I've bought some smart price bolognese sauce today to try but it was rather expensive - 27P a jar lol.

  • I was just coming on here to say that mr T had put it up to 9p a jar. Still very cheap BUT thats an increase of 125 % if i did my maths right ? lol

I usually add shredded chicken and warm through in a pan on the hob. Very quick chicken curry for rice/ noodles or stuffing for warmed pitta breads

Off to Mr S to stock up on theres :)

I'm not a great fan of any bolognese sauces but I do love their very expensive (33p!) chilli sauce  - not keen on their tomato casserole sauce either (again it's just a thing with me and tomato sauces though) but OH and family love it. I've also got a jar of their Sweet and Sour sauce sitting in the cupboard waiting for an experiment.

I want to use the jars, can I empty the sauce into a freezer bag, then freeze until I need them?
