Slot 3 is also empty. I have no idea about the brand/model number - it doesn't appear anywhere. Control Panel/System says: AMD Athlon (tm) XP 2600+, 2.09 Ghz, 256 RAM0

If you need to use Amazon, here are some choices, with 1GB giving better value for money than 512MB
So... will all of these choices work?
I'm assuming this one will, as there's only one
512MB RAM from play.com 9.990 -
According to the Motherboard specs, that will be fine. It's 8.99 now.0

Have ordered the play.com memory - does anyone know of any instructions anywhere on how to install it?0

Its unbelievably easy to install. Take the mains lead out and take the side off the pc.
Find the chip that looks the same as the one youve bought. Theres a clip either side to hold them in, and they ONLY fit one way round. Its fool proof!:idea:0 -
Hey suiko,
aliEnRIK is right, it's very easy! Have a look at this video here:
http://videos.howstuffworks.com/howstuffworks/26-how-to-install-ram-to-a-desktop-computer-video.htm
The actual installation pocess bit starts about halfway though. There are plenty more guides out there, too - just google for 'install RAM desktop' and you'll get lots of results.Never underestimate the power of the techno-geek...0 -
OK, I've installed the memory now (in Slot 3 - couldn't get it to clip in in Slot 2), if anyone's still here
And just had a freeze again as I was posting this, with only Firefox running. So I pressed reset, and from clicking on Firefox after restart, it took 4 minutes to open the program. I have noticed that the PC always freezes if left inactive for a bit, by the way
Does this look OK (from CPUz)?

Open CCLEANER
At the top it should have ~ 1gig RAM. Or whatever you have. What does it tell you? (Its processor speed, then ram. then graphics):idea:0 -
It says MS Windows XP SP3, AMD AThlon XP 2600+, 256Mb RAM, Nvidia GEForce FX52000
