clearly your computer hasnt read the new ram!
What size of ram chip was it?
Id recommend taking the OLD one out and trying with just the new one.
Then repost what ccleaner says
HOWEVER, im still in the belief your computer may be freezing due to the fact the graphics card driver isnt right. (Or have you fixed that now?):idea:0 -
Will have a go at that now.
The new one I put in is 512 Mb (the one reommended on here from play.com).
I haven't done anything with the graphics card.0 -
CPU-Z is reporting that you have 128 MB + 512MB onboard.
Using the Keyboard, press the Flying Windows key together with the Pause Break key. Report the information under System.
Once completed and you have reported your findings....
Remove all of the old RAM and place the 512 MB RAM module in to Slot 1.
Make sure all visible connections are firmly seated.
Don't be afraid of a complete re-install if it comes to it. This is the best time to do it, before you have lots of info stored.0 -
CCleaner now says 512Mb
So we're getting somewhere...
I put the new card in Slot 1 (where the ld one was) and put the old one in Slot 2. I'm guessing that by that figure, it now rcognises the new one, but not the old one. It did sem to start up more quickly this time tho - we'll have to see what happens now!0 -
Donnie - think we cross-posted. Anyway, the Flying Windows + Pause Break states 512 Mb. The old RAM is still in Slot 2, but as the system doesn't seem to be recognising it...0

Clearly the 2 are incompatible
I know this ISNT what you want to hear (And id wait for donnies advise first), but id be thinking of buying another ram chip (the same)
First up though. may as well see if the computer still freezes, as if it does, then clearly its NOT a ram issue:idea:0 -
Remove all of the other modules leaving only the 512MB for the time being. Leave the side of the PC off for the time being.
See how you go after that.0 -
It does SEEM to be working better now with the 512Mb. Why do you think it's important to take the other one out, as a matter of interest? It does show up on CPUz, by the way, in Slot2.0
-
Either the two RAM sticks are not compatable with each other, or maybe there is a problem with either your motherboard or your BIOS/drivers. Just using the new 512 stick, does it work in all of the slots, or just the first one ?? If it works in all of them, then another stick the same, with them fitted in slots 1 and 2, should sort the RAM issue out. Then, we can get to the rest of the system and see what's what.......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
Well, I tried it first in the 3rd slot, and it seems the PC didn't recognise it. It does seem to be working ok now, even if there is some incompatibility issue between the cards. But why don't we just leave it as it is for now, as it seems to be working?0
