Theres no way your XP is going to freeze with with half a gig ram
Possibly, as Donnie says, your incompatible one is causing a problem. But im still guessing its your graphics card driver.

Will try taking the other one out - I didn't "ignore" you, but simply didn't want to do anything when the system seemed at last to be working well.

What to do about the graphics card driver then?

    goto DEVICE MANAGER
Find the yellow exclamation mark, right click and UPDATE via the internet
Hopefully it will search for and find a driver

Found it, but when I click on Update Driver, I don't seem to get the option to look on the Internet, only on the system. The only one with a yellow exclam mark is C-Media AC97 Audio Device.

You can try updating or re-installing your drivers, but.........
I'm inclined to think that it may be connected with with the installation of XP3.
Have you tried rolling back with a System Restore?

If so and that doesn't work, seeing as you haven't had the PC for long, I would consider a fresh install.

On the keyboard, Press Flying Windows key, together with the Pause Break. Then choose Hardware and then Device Manager.

The graphics driver can be found under Display Adapter. Double clicking on Display Options and the subsequent options will bring up the option to uninstall, reinstall and/or update your driver.

I tried that with the NVidia GEForce , but it says it is working OK. And as before, when I click on update driver, it just searches on the PC and then tells me I have already have the best one installed. Did I do something wrong? Should I try to download he latest version of this from the net?

How do I do the system restore? Presumably I need things like Windows serial numbers (don't have any!)?
