is it just me or has it been really quiet this month?

    well done everyone.

No it's not just you - I have noticed that this and the other weight loss threads on here have been quiet this month - calm before the storm maybe:confused: Also this is such a busy tim for most people so might not have the time to pop in, hopefully things will get back to normal after the holidays. Whatever happened to Suggs?

Victory, we currently have a tin of Quality Street and a tin of Roses open in our house. Normally, I would be right in there munching away. The meals above have given me some focus - but I've found a new way of 'messing with my mind'. When I feel like eating one of the chocolates I imagine the smell, taste and texture as if I was actually eating it (I take the time to really enjoy the chocolate). Then I tell myself that I've had just as much 'enjoyment' but without actually eating it - 'cos the 'enjoyment' of really eating them is only fleeting anyway. Is that weird  Seems to be working at the moment.

    FFM :)

No it is not weird because I did that the other day, craving proper roasties and gravy but had a WW meal of chicken casserole with potatoes in it and if you deceive your mind they can taste and smell like real greasy properly crunchy potatoes and lovely slurpy real gravy(they don't look like them and really to be honest have no taste like them but it filled the spot and with the mind games was satisfied):D
I have done that often along with telling myself there is no point eating whatever it was because it will make me feel bad and put all the good work to waste so yes mind games played a lot in this house:D

If it is not that one I am playing at and can't let it go I have the tiniest say piece of biscuit and savour it endlessly with OH saying to me 'was that tiny piece worth it' what is the point? Well mind games again is the point, can deceive myself that I have had a rfull one or loads and am happy that I know I haven't and not gorged but I have had a tiny bit which stops the mind for hankering after it so win win...

    Morning all!

Vic how is your OH? Has he recovered from his bathroom trip?

I know it's too late to post for this week but I've lost 2lbs. Computer was on the blink last night.

Dragon and Beanie I know it's annoying about the meds! My poor sis seems worse off on her meds than she is off them!

Well done Missy on the one year maintaining!!!

About the imagining the taste of the food without eating it, I did something strange last night. I took a big bite out of a mince pie, thought how lovely it was and then how fattening and then I...............spat it out! But as I had the taste still in my mouth I didn't feel like I still wanted something sweet! I hasten to add this is NOT my usual behaviour. Once I've gone past the 'I shouldn't really have this' and on to the 'one won't hurt' excuse, there's no going back. Past the point of return and well on the road to the land of regret.
    I would if I could but I can't so I won't!

Morning all, thanks for the chart BB, sorry to hear about the problems you're having with the meds Beanie and Dragon, but well done for not gaining loads! I don't think I'd be so good:rolleyes:.

I'm still stunned that I keep losing, I have been 'generously sized:rotfl: ' for years and have NEVER managed to lose more than a tiny bit unless I've exercised like mad--usually resulting in some sort of injury:rolleyes:. I haven't done more than usual day-to-day stuff recently, so it's all down to SW diet. I hope it continues!!

I didn't get the job, apparently 'just' missed out to someone more experienced, but...I'd have had to accept if offered, and that place was SCARY. Plus the 40+ mile drive there was not pleasant, I love driving but not that journey:eek:. So my overall feeling is relief, I got some fab constructive feedback from the interview too, so well worth going!

Well done Babykat, Fredsnail, London, Marion, Studentmidwife, and KPC:T :T :T :T Well done to all the maintainers too, and especially target members, what a fantastic feeling that must be FFM and Victory:A :j

Have a great day everyone, and happy 2nd week of advent:D.

    Jay xx
    Anytime;)
  • Morning everyone! Still havn't opened any of our Christmas treats because in my mind once the box or tin is opened I would be compelled to eat it all up! If it is sealed and not opened it does not bother me! Weird - thats me:j

    snack - 2 satsumas - free
Lunch - Rest of yesterdays potato and leek soup with wm roll and reduced fat egg mayonaisse - (free+heb+free)

  • seren i feel your pain. The congratulations i'm getting are nice but undeserved as i gained 2kg last week - so this week is really only a 0.2kg loss - the same 0.2kg that goes on and off week in, week out.

    Bonza KPC,

Think we're both in the same boat with the old WL....down a lb up a lb....down a lb...up a lb.....I'm amazed I'm not seasick with all the yoyo-ing!

trouble is I can't seem to pin myself down to anything...I'm sure I have a secret sabteur living in my sub-concious...so whenever I lose a pound its like "you're wastin away!...you'll never be THIN!! munch munch....."

The majority of my problem is a lack of organisation aided by a deficiency in willpower :D. I get the impression you work a lot harder at the yoyo-ing than I do though so I really do sympathise!

Have decided that 2009 will be my year though (just not quite sure how I'll do it....).
  • Morning all: haven't gone in to work today as feeling bleughhh from night of bad med side effects: ghastly stomach cramps.

However I have just heard that poor bails has been is hosp since Monday after an infection in her leg from cat scratch turned very nasty and is waiting for an op:eek: . I know those of you who know her will be very sorry to hear this. This is the last thing she needs with her health issues she already has to contend with: I suspect this is going to knock her system for 6.

Jay - well done on the good interview experience and glad there is a plus side to not gettin it.
Tagz - a good loss and will add it to the chart I hold here.
Yes it is very very quiet at the mo: I guess dec isn't a good 'watching what you eat' month and I think most people are putting off the getting down to it in January.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

Certainly agree with what was said a couple of pages back about the 'perils' of fruit.

I have an addiction for the stuff which is my major problem, as I hate things such as chocolate etc, really do need to think of a way to eat less of it!!!
