Orange - Can I Get Out Of My Contract

  • I still dont understand this issue.
The average user sends no more than 5 photos per month.**
The 5p increase means your arguing to cancel your contract over around £0.25 per month (£3 per year)
How on earth can you be bothered to send letter after letter over £3?! its going to cost you more in recorded postage! Never mind your time!!
I cant see them cancelling a £300+contract per year for a £3 increase to yourself, its just madness, it sounds more like any excuse to try cancel a contract. Especially since the price increase also includes the ammount you can send in the MMS.
This isnt quite the same league as the change of costs to the personal call numbers that did effect allot of people and did trigger the get out clause
I would be more than happy to be proved wrong, but i do think your wasting your times.

**If you were sending more than this i would reccomend sticking a bundle on (which the prices havent changed which means your paying £0.20 per message)

    Daggin,

I can't speak for others, but my issues with Orange run a lot deeper than a 5p increase of an MMS message. In my experience customer loyalty stands for nothing with this lot and they'll happily shaft you given any opportunity.

I have just phoned Orange and was put through to disconnections and the address I was previously given was to the insurance department! The gentleman I spoke to was extremely unhelpful in this but he has given me the following address to send the letter to:

    Correspondence Department

    PO BOX 10
    Patchway
    Bristol
    BS32 4BQ

So, I am now going to send another bloody letter!

    emptycup,

Thats the address I sent mine to and they claimed to have never received. I faxed mine last Friday and got a missed call off them yesterday. On phoning it back a recorded message stated they will be contacting me again shortly.

Phone up disconnections again and ask for their fax. Once received they can escalate.

  • Cheers for the advice.

In regards to the question of whether it is worth it? It is irrelevant as if anything it is the principle of the matter. Also, if someone has other issues that do not allow a penalty free cancellation this is a window of oppurtunity.

For example, what is the point of having an online email/ticket system if they are unable to deal with any account related queries?

Also, if someone no longer gets great reception with the phone this could be quite useful too.

At the end of the day it is the consumers choice if they want to invest time and effort into something like this.

I just got a txt from orange asking me to call them back regarding the phone call I made last night. I have to dial 244...but I am thinking it is a quality assurance thing.
  • Can i point out that this so-called price rise isn't really that bad.

    Currently, photos UNDER 50KB are 25p - if they're over 50KB they cost 50p.

Under the new pricing, ALL photos will be 30p.

With megapixel cameras on the market these days, most are over 50KB.

Bill, its understood that the price increase is minimal, (and could be of benefit to some) but as emptycup points out, provides a window of opportunity for those who wish to exit the contract due to poor service etc.

I for one could not give a monkeys about the increase itself.
