Orange - Can I Get Out Of My Contract
                    i have seen many mobile networks increasing prices, and people being able to get out of there contracts due to this,
from the 1st of november, orange are increasing there MMS price from 25P to 30P
i send a few mms, can i get out of my contract.. if so, can someone help me

            You'd have to check the terms of the contract. I remember T-Mobile did this a while ago and the relevant part of the contract referred to the right to cancel if the increase in cost was greater than the increase to the retail price index... or something like that.
Although T-Mobile fraudulently misled customers into thinking that they did not have any right to cancel and obstructed many attempts to do so.0 -

im sure it was 10%, 25p to 30P is a 10% increase0 - 
            But you do have to prove that you use the service that's being changed. If you've never sent an MMS (or sent 1 a month) you're unlikely to get very far.0

            as far as I was aware, if it increased your bill by at leasst 10% then you may have a case. if it's only a few mms a month, I doubt it would make that much of an impact on your bill.

I don't agree with your interpretation and I think it's unhelpful if you are not sure of the situation. In the terms and conditions it says if ornage change the contract to your detriment you can cancel penalty free. It says that in black and white.
Now any change which increases a cost is to your detriment whether you have used that service or not. Say you have 10 months left on your contract how do you or they know you will not use the service during the remaining time of your contract.
networks try to pull this "we've increased the price but you don't use text/mins/08 numbers ...therefore we don't have to cancel your contract" con even though in the terms the customer is entitiled to this right. Too many people decide to give up when they hear this thinking the CS agent is right. I have cancelled a contract with O2 a yr ago when they started charging for 084X and 0870 call. I got the same "you don't use 0845 that often so we're not cancelling your contract". I soon set them straight and it was cancelled soon after. If they don't play ball record the conversation and tell them you will write to ofcom/otelo0 -

I've been treated pretty badly by Orange and would welcome getting out of my contract (6 months left to run).
Does anyone know roughly what the All Items Index of RP rate currently is? And if a 20% increase is enough for a case?
the Orange t's & c's reads;

i did a bit of research and I believe RPI to currently sit around the 5% mark which is way below the 20% Orange increase.
Orange's tc & cs state that they are within their rights to increase charges equal to or below the RPI increase.
Surely this is grounds for the consumer to back out?
And with regards to the text, yes I got it on monday and the website backs up the increase.
