  • Can anyone tell me if Amex have always charged £25 pa for their Platinum cashback card?

Ive had this card for a few years now and don't think Ive noticed the charge on my statements.

No, they introduced it a couple of years ago. They only charge it if you don't use the card i.e. a dormancy fee. It was enough for me to cancel the card as I'd already nabbed the intial cashback and had no further use for it.

AA Reward Plus Credit Card is now open to non AA members

    • 3% cashback on Fuel
    • 0.5% cashback on everything else
    • No annual fee
    • Visa Credit Card
I applied for this a month ago when it was only open to AA members, I noticed they've recently changed and now allow non-members to apply too.

    P.S. Shouldn't this thread be a sticky?

  • when you enter any information in the boxes -you would get a tick or a cross

when i entered my date of birth a cross appeared -and after filling everything else in -it won't go on to second page -it defaulted to the date of birth

    i did enter xx/xx/xxxx

    i tried xx/x/xx still didn't work !!

The first is correct. Are you sure you used zeros and not Os?
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

It wouldn't accept the length of time at this address, which is in double figures, and showed a red cross. I entered the years and months, but only when I deleted the years and entered them again did I get the green tick.

I've had the new Capital One Cashback card for a few months and hit the £100 cashback limit on the 5% offer after about 6 weeks.

I was under the impression that after this cashback would be recorded at their normal lower rate, but my statements are now recording £0 cashback on all subsequent purchases. Has anyone else experienced this?

Will the lower rate of cashback kick back in after the initial offer period?
  • Noob question. What is the best card to use for items like:

    - buying car insurance over the web
    - paying car tax over the web
    - charity donations over the web
    - paying a tax bill over the web!
    - paying gas and leccy bills, again over the web
    - paying for car servicing/tyres (in person at the garage)

I guess it is the AA card at 0.5%. Santander 123 doesn't cover this kind of thing, and I don't like Amex and acceptability would always be an issue. Am I right?

I guess a good combo would be: Santander 123 for the stuff it covers - supermarkets and petrol, dept stores, and an AA card to cover t'internet spending and everything else.

Anybody made a really big purchase on a cashback card ? Like a car ? How about buying an ISA with it ?
