I applied for the Barclaycard Platinum with 11% cashback - on the online form I said no to balance transfer assuming I could do it by phone later.

The application was not approved there and then and i've subsequently received a letter offering me a Platinum card but without the cashback offer?

The letter actually states "Although this is not the card you originally applied for" bla bla

    Anyone else experienced this?

Declining the balance tranfer option shouldn't have led to the non-approval - my wife's went through fine on that basis and she did a telephone transfer later.

Did you perhaps make two applications within the family?
  • has this offer been pulled? No mention of the cashback on the link posted above.
  • Yes, I think they have pulled it.
  • OK, got the card a couple of days ago: "Congratulations, here is your brand new blah blah blah..." No mention of the 11% cashback deal -- how do I know if I'm in that section of cardholders who have that deal, short of asking when I activate? Did previous posters have any other info with their card?

Well if you have to ring to activate then why don't you ask them on the same call?

letter that comes with the barclayscard doesn't actually say anything on the 'deals' you are on... i had to email them and they wrote back (want written confirmation rather than through the phone) confirming my rates and other things from barclayscard.
  • Confirmed during the activation call that it was the 11% deal and did the £100 transfer. Took a while but at least the guy knew what he was doing.

What is their email address that you used to request the confirmation?

It's amazing that they don't offer any cashback for on-line traders (Amazon, Play, 7DayShop, Argos, MAplin, PCWorld, Currys) Almost wish I'd stayed with my old Egg (now Barclaycard), at least that offered 1% on EVERYThing that you brought with it.
Maybe their TV add should be modified to include ("but we only actually offer cashbach though a minimal number of outlets)
