Hmm, the 11% card is being pushed rather hard by MSE. How much commission are Barclaycard paying? £30 each?
I don't think you can really call this is a cashback card at all, since they stop paying any cashback when you've spent £909. That wouldn't even take a month for most people. It's basically £100 for signing up.
As you say, £100 for signing up, less a few other fairly minor costs. Fine by me (and the wife) - after £909 the cards get dropped.0 -
If you'd left that field blank you could have made a £100 BT during the activation call, as stated in the offer T&Cs on their website.
Rats !! Should have asked here first :-)0 -
How does the balance transfer for the Platinum card work. I have more than £100 due on my Mastercard (which I normally pay off every month); do they just pay off £100 to the Mastercard people leaving me the balance to clear at the end of the month or can you only transfer the whole amount? TIA.0

As I understand it, if you ask them to transfer £100 that's what they'll transfer. There's no obligation to transfer more than that, or the whole balance, and indeed Barclaycard won't know what the balance is on the account you're transferring to.
You don't need to close the account you're transferring to, and it remains your reponsibility to clear the balance in the normal way.0 -
Thanks, that seems to back up the online payment information box presented if you choose that route (I'll do mine on the phone if accepted).0

If I transfer £2800 in my application for the Barclaycard and take advantage of the 11% cashback does my new spending come off before the BT?
I think it's the case of BTing £100 and paying that off on top of the £909 max for cashback at the end of the 1st month.
I've not done a BT for 18 months and I know banks had to review how the most expensive borrowing had to be paid off 1st but don't know if that's the case with Barclaycard! does anyone know?0 -

I'm sure I'm being really dense, but I can't see where the cashback Platinum card is on the Barclaycard site?0

Funny you should say that.
I signed up the other day and the card's just arrive, but I went back in via the MSE link to check some small print and the card seems to have vanished.
I found it - but only by playing around with a few choice words like barclaycard, 11% and cashback in Google.
I'm guessing they're in the process of pulling the offer.0 -
