  • Kathy, your post about the button tin gave me a lump in my throat. Do you need any more “tiny things”? If so, PM me with your details & I’ll find some to add to it.
JackieO, I have a cuttlebug too J J (among the many other crafting gadgets out in my cabin….). Just a shame I haven’t had much time to use any of them for a while, but roll on next summer (when Uni is done). You are sounding so chirpy now too, it makes me smile reading your posts.
Troo, hope you & OH are each getting some enjoyment out of today..!!
Pooky, do what makes you happy J If you don’t really want to work & you will only break even, then enjoy being able to spend time at home & be OS. But equally, if you would like to work, then perhaps part-time work & a top-up with tax credits/childcare credits may be practical? I have loved being at home all summer, just able to potter at home (and do DIY ;) ) but I do like the stimulation of something else as well (however, 3 days a week is enough for me, when I have the choice).
Kaat, mmmm, lavender that’s a nice idea – I have a bottle of lavender oil & spare fabric, so guess what will be made by the weekend!!!! I think I remember someone saying you should put some water in the microwave every now & then at the same time as the rice/wheat bag, so the contents don’t burn – is that right?? (or did I make it up…???)
Candygirl ((((hugs)))) for you, DD, your Dad & all your family. Just try to ignore DD’s exBF & his family (if you can…) when they’re acting like 2 year olds. Easier said than done I know.
W-Sybil, I sometimes have a word document open while reading the thread & just add my reply as I go along, then copy & paste it over ;) (as I cannot remember anything otherwise!!!)
MrsM, that sounds like an awful lot of homework for your young DS, think I’d be inclined to pop in & try to have a word with his teacher one day, if you can.
PenPin, what a shame your helper is still messing you around – it really sounded like things were sorted the other week. Nice you have some social occasions to look forward to J
Ruthibe73, I am at uni (at 39) with lots of other students a similar age, and it’s surprising just how many OH’s don’t like it… (I don’t’ have one ;) ). I think it’s unsettling for them as they’re not sure how the changes will affect them…..(and perhaps a little selfishness for some as well). But you go for it J And hope all goes ok for your Grandad.
    MrsMortenharket, congratulations on your news!!!!
MSDiva, oh your poor friend. I am sure being able to talk to you (even via the internet) was a comfort in some way. I hope the time he has left is as comfortable & peaceful as it can be.

Gosh, this has turned into a long reply!!!!

Finally put up the new bargain chrome curtain rail (£7.50!) for the lounge I got about 3 weeks ago. I was motivated to do so as I was unexpectedly given some brand-new chocolate brown suede eyelet top curtains from Next by a friend yesterday. They’re full-length, and look gorgeous – that was pretty much the finishing touch for my lounge. So seriously pleased about that – they must have cost a bomb from the shop originally. Got the old ikea net panels in the WM with soda crystals hoping they’ll whiten up, so I can rehang them. Have got some sheets on the line, but it’s looking very dark outside.. may have to go & rescue them!

Anyway, cuppa, lunch & meal-planning is calling me….

Ruthibe - I hope your Gdads op goes well, my DH had the same op and made an amazing recovery although he was obviously younger.

....Thought I might make the kids a milk jelly, but wondered if you had any other ideas?

Mmmmmm, milk jelly  I've not had that for years! My mum used to do those for puddings, along with Rice Creamola or ice-cream with pink or chocolate custard made from Birds blancmange powders! Will shut up now so as not to show my age!

Not much going on chez Floss at the moment, OH is away (again), we had a quiet weekend with lots of washing and even some ironing...but there's some more crept into the basket now....:p

Seem to have a problem with mould & black spots of damp in the corner of our bedroom, on the outside wall between the bay & next-door's - had similar before on wall under bay window but only since new windows went in last November (can't bring myself to blame the double glazing) - OH thinks may be from roof / gutters / bay.....not sure how - maybe we're dissolving at night? Not laundry-related as washing is dried in the back bedroom but that's as dry as a bone! We've also got a damp patch in the back of the attic from the chimney..... Whatatwit & Morwenna, can you recommend anyone locally who's good for roofs?

    Afternoon all.

Afraid I've been MIA for a few days; I've been a rather poorly Wolf, the cold I've had for about three weeks has migrated to my chest and made itself at home. I won't go into detail, in case you're eating while you read the thread.
Housework has gone all to pot, as I haven't the strength to do any at the mo, hope to get back on track by the weekend. As far as I'm concerned, if anyone visits and doesn't like it, they needn't come again!

We did tidy out the cupboard under the sink, and boy did it need doing! Found stuff in there I didn't even know we had! Don't know how long it'll stay tidy - you know how it is with these things specially with a man in the house.

Anyway ((((hugs)))) for all who want/need them and are brave enough to risk catching my lurgy.:D
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)
  • well I have put some washing on & put some in the TD.

I have done a food inventory.

    Must do some ironing.

    Must get motivated!!!!

(((Hugs))) to Ruthibe's Grandad, to Lame Wolf and to Moneysavingdiva's friend in Montana - how sad for him and his family.

Mortenharket - many congratulations on your wonderful news.

Ruthibe - you stick to your dream, girl! Men are funny like that but don't let him stop you.

    Squiggly - I've pmd you!

Well, I only stopped for five minutes with a cuppa. Have quotes to type for DH; I said I'd do them today and I've only just remembered!

Mummysaver - I've just remembered your question about evaporated milk! If I have any left over I just serve it with a fresh fruit salad or something. My DH also adds it to rice pudding (which I can't stand) and I know it can be used in coffee but, apart from that, I don't have any ideas. Not much help, am I?! Hopefully, someone else will come along with some proper answers.

Kathy - don't know if this would be suitable for your neice, but what about magnetix, you can often buy a small pack of a cheaper version in Poundland or even toy shops, just thought that most of the bits are quite tiny and she might enjoy the way they "stick" together?

Well I got a bit of sleep, then the bin men woke me up clanking, can't complain though cos they always come and collect my bin from the side of the house if I forget to put it out, bless them!

The dog is still sitting gazing at the casserole, lol, good job I have made so much, have been asked to look after some of the neighbours' children till 6pm, so an extra 5 for dinner tonight!

The giant jaffa cake was a success, helped dd2 transfer the jelly to the flan case and top it with choc yesterday, and they had some for their pudding and then took a slice into school in their lunchboxes today, not too sure how it'll stand up to travelling, they might just have a pile of crumbs and gloop!

  • Hello everybody

Well, long time no post etc although I have been lurking.

As some of you may remember I don't like where I'm working - or should I say I don't like where I'll be leaving in a month!!! :j :j Gave my notice in yesterday. Consultant upset but understanding, said patients will be upset and today had a meeting with a manager - where I did not hold back on how they are treating their medical secretaries!! Anyway, feel much better and have signed up over the last few weeks with quite a few transcription agencies to get things in place as I had intended to go at Christmas and have some other irons in the fire. Plus, there's always the box set of Murder She Wrote that Mr Rage bought me for my birthday to get through :D I was on holiday last week and when I came back on Monday I had had no cover (despite being promised it) and about 40 e-mails from managers chasing stuff that wasn't my job to find out so I finally lost it! Can't tell you all how happy I feel - as Mr Rage said (after I'd shouted at him on Monday night for the first time ever about work) I'd rather live on baked beans and be happy than have you ratty (it takes a lot for me to be ratty....). So there were go. As I pointed out though working from home means cheap meals cooked from scratch so that will be good for the pocket and the waistline. Cheers all 'round :j
But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green :D
