Morning everyone
Haven't been os'ing much lately due to starting my college course and having mammoth amounts of homework  I have to say I didn't realise what a knock on effect it would have - the house is a pickle
DD is going to a friends for tea tonight, and DH is going round to my aunt and uncles to set up their new ipods for them - they haven't got a clue bless them
I have work (which I'm also struggling to fit everything in due to missing an afternoon a week) then when I get home I can't decide between homework or housework - decisions decisions
Have a great day everyone - I'm off to make packed lunchesSquares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)0 -

Morning one and all
Haven't had a chance to catch up on rest of yesterdays thread but big huge (((HUGS))) to all those who want/need them.
Got a big to-do list done last night so am giving myself a pat on the back. We're supposed to be going swimming tonight after w*rk but DD2 and I have still got our itchy eyes so I don't think we should - although I know there will be lots of protests!!
DD2 is going to stay at home with the childminder today - she very kindly said yesterday that she would look after her if I didn't want her going to schoolm. I'm going to make Dr's appointment and hopefully fit it round w*rk.
I didn't do the dusting yesterday so that remains on the list and food today will be:
Lunch- salad, Dinner - shepherds pie n veg

Good Morning chums ,a bit of a nippy one here in north Kent. Very dark, damp & disnmal as well but indoors alls well with my world. I have to sort out lots of family photos today to take with me on my trip up to Manchester to see my relatives on Friday.I hope to weather dries up a bit.
I am making some lasagnes for my DDs freezer this morning also a couple of curries. She works so hard, as she is full-time at her special-needs school and I like to help her out by making individual dishes for her freezer to save her a bit of time when she gets home .
Although winter seems on its way I still havn't put my heating on yet I have a thick pair of flight socks and a very soft cosy blanket to go over my knees in the evening. An extra cardi during the day and plenty of hot cuppas keep me warm. I am saving my heating for when it gets really cold in November onwards. I have a small clock in my sitting room and if it gets below 17c then the heating will go on.I had extra roof and wall insulation fitted last year and it really does keep the winter at bay.
I have had my SC on all night with a turkey leg cooking so my kitchen is nice and warm already.
One of my neighbours has said she will move her bed into the sitting room during the winter and keep warm that way.She is 85 bless her, what an inditement it is for an old lady to have to do that because she worries about the bills. I think its dreadful the way the fuel costs has risen so quickly. luckily I pay extra during the summer months to compensate for the winter ones.I cope very well, but I am of the generation that grew up with lino on the floors, and ice on the insides of the windows, and my dad's army greatcoat over my feet when in bed.
A couple of hot water bottles when I'm sitting watching the t'v. also keeps me nice and cosy.
I knitted a couple of covers for them so I won't get burnt if I fall asleep
watching t.v.
Well time to get a wriggle on <<hugs to those who need them>> and a bigto the rest of you

Morning all,
bit murky here today...
N9eav, hope you enjoyed your few days off. As for the government, they're all the same no matter what party - but I am definitely fed-up with Gordon & his mob currently.
Morwenna, hot ribena is lovely (and I find soothing) when you're coldy/sore throaty.
Redruby, I was going to have a go at making some rice bags for my DD's. One asked me the other day if I could put the heating on at nights (all night!!!) cos she is cold. I said no........
Hope all those poorly OH's are improving, you are all in my thoughts.
Was doing my budget/forecast (up till next sept!!) last night (as I would like to be able to try & buy a buy-to-let 2 bed flat to rent out to my little sis maybe next summer, don't know if it will be possible, will see state of the markets etc at the time), but anyway, it was also to see what I am spending, etc.
Just thought as I switched on laptop now I would add up what I have spent on groceries this month so far... (I seem to be very disorganised & in a supermarket daily.. not good) SO FAR its £320 (and that's the debit card, I have used cash a few times so it's prob more like £360)
And yet the cupboards/freezer are not full & I don't seem to have much I could actually make many meals with.... I have really shocked myself as I didn't realise how much money I was wasting, but it's just too easy to keep handing that debit card over...
Sooo... today I will be listing contents of cupboards/freezer & doing some serious meal-planning as I know I can save a fortune (added to which I won't have time to wander the shops in a couple of weeks). Will also try to get a monthly main shop delivered from online I think, and then have a pot of coins for the milk/fruit/veg top-up. I actually need to buy a small chest freezer & find a space for it, as I only have 4 tiny drawers on a fridge-freezer so can't cook double, or anything, which is so frustrating.
anyway, must go & get a cuppa, oldest DD wants a lift to college (& £20 I haven't got for yet more "stuff" - this on top of £35 last week & the £100 I paid at enrolment...)
Have a good day all,.... (((((((((hugs)))))))) for those that need them.Live your life until love is found, or love's gonna get you down" (credit to Mika!)0 -
Morning all, another dark, gloomy morning in CD, Day 3 of the gas boiler saga in the BSB house. I felt so sorry for the lone gas fitter yesterday struggling to remove the old floor standing boiler on his own, he spent 2 hrs stripping it down, then came the loading of the huge water tank onto a sack barrow and as he progressed towards the french doors i had to get up and help him. Being double glazes there is a large threshold and i had visions of the upvc smashing all over the place, so between us we managed to struggle it across without any damage PHEW! Only to find there was about 3 gallon of black sludge still left in it which promptly spilled all over the step and the yard, he was so embarrased. Having no water on i couldn't clean it up straight away so it was all over my kitchen floor by 5 o'clock. When he left out came the stardrops and i found the soda crystals excellent for dispersing the black sludge on the yard!!
Today should be easier, new boiler is in and working, still have'nt got a clue what i'm doing with it LOL and electrician is coming to sort out new thermostat.
Needless to say house is in a state and meals have been quickies.
will do liver and bacon tonight and lunch will be HM soup.
Tried to do listings on ebay last night but puter was running so slow i gave up, i will try again this afternoon.
Have a good day everyone BSB xxx0 -

not sure whats for tea tonight , looked in the fridge and its almost empty:eek: I only shop on a friday , I wonder who has eaten it all!! As an OSer I am sure I can rustle something up;)
hope everyone has a great day x0 -
Morning :hello:
I really want to plan stuff (shopping, cooking, business etc - I know I planned the other day but I have more ideas to add so I need to jiggle it a bit) but mr troo wants to go out again. South Devon today  He knows what the money situation is but he's on holiday so thinks it doesn't count. I say he knows, but he spends when there's no money then worries about money (and nags me) when everything is going smoothlyHe's a typical 'cashpoint says £800, so we have £800 to spend' person.
Going to do today
Handwashing
WANT to do today but can't
2 loads of washing
Clean bathroom
Sort out garden and greenhouses
Nip to my fave garden centre for raspberry canes
Grand Plan for business
Mr troo is bound to want to visit a brewery (actually I can predict which one  ) so I'm taking a book with me, he can visit beer and I can readI am a coffee bean0 -
Good morning everyone. A bit late because I thought I'd get a head start on the chores as soon as DH left for work. He came home early yesterday - just after lunch - because some supplies hadn't turned up; it wasn't so bad - he was going to take the morning off today to do some quotes but managed to get them done yesterday. I just have to type and deliver them. I've told him to take afternoons off for quoting in future; that way, I get the morning to myelf which is when I'm busiest, plus we can have an early dinner so we end up with more of the evening to relax in. He seems to think it's a good idea even if he does do without a lie-in!
(((Hugs))) to Smoky, PenPin, Jayward, Beth and her family, Essex-girl's Dad, Candygirl's Dad, Pippa's DH and Mum, and Ulrick. Hope you all have a very good day today.
Churchmouse - :hello: :hello: :hello:
Whatatwit - good luck with your Remoska; you will fall in love with it in no time. I wouldn't be without mine. I'm doing Paprika Pork in it tonight which is basically a ratatouille with pork and some ground paprika added to it. It's one of our favourites. I bought some ys pork leg steaks so they just need cutting up into bite-sized pieces.
Morwenna and RedRuby - hope the sore throats and colds don't hang around for too long. My DS1 and his family have had it, picked up from school, no doubt, but seemed to get over it pretty quickly. DS1 looked quite rough when he came round on Thursday (to fix my crashed computer, bless him. If I'd known how bad he was I would not have asked him), but he still managed to run a half-marathon on Sunday. He said it nearly killed him but he made it all the way round, just a lot slower than usual. I told him he was mad to do it! I had the pneumonia jab last Monday so I think that protected me from it plus I had three colds last year so I'm hoping I've built up some immunity for the next year or so!
N9EAV - I quite agree with you about Gordon Brown. The economy has always brought Labour down because they just don't know how handle it properly. 'High tax and high spend' should be their motto, if they were honest, but then what group of politicians is honest? I certainly wouldn't want to be the next Prime Minister and have to clear up the mess they have made of everything.
Donny-Gal - our car broke down in Caen last year, in the rush hour, in the pouring rain, half an hour after we had driven off the ferry! We managed to find the nearest dealer and they fixed it there and then and charged us half what it would have cost over here. We're thinking about having both cars serviced over there in future! I hope you get it fixed quickly and inexpensively!
Jet - don't risk your eyes; it isn't worth it!
We had a little rain last night but so far today it is gloomy but dry. Obviously no Indian summer for us this year!
Well, today I have to post a parcel of buttons and other bits and bobs for a niece who is very unwell with a form of Motor Neurone disease. She's only three years old, bless her, and is not expected to have a very long life. She is losing the use of her arms but can pick tiny things up with her fingers, so her Nan has asked everyone for some buttons to fill a tin with. I've found loads of lovely things to send her besides buttons. I have some very tiny baby dolls, some wooden alphabet tiles, some little sparkly gems and some tiny dogs plus I've just remembered I have some old-fashioned peg dolls. I shall make another collection up to send her for Christmas, too. It's been lovely looking for things for her.
I have to pop out today to get some milk and I also need to get another row counter for my knitting. I've lost the one I've had for about thirty-five years - it's probably gone down the side of the sofa but I can't find it.
Anyway, I shall love you and leave you - the WM has just finished so I have to decide whether to risk hanging the washing on the line.
Have a great day.

Troo - my DH is a different problem, moneywise. He always thinks money will go further than it does. He'd expect to get £1600 of purchasing power from £800! It drives me mad because, like all of us OSers, I know instinctively how far the money will go - if I left it all up to him, we'd have no bills paid and no food in the cupboards! Plus he is the eternal optimist, which I suppose is a good thing but, if we were both like it, we'd end up in big trouble financially! I tell him all he has to do is earn it; leave the spending of it up to me!
