It's only a best before date crack them open and smell them. I'd eat them.:footie:

You can do the water test (if the egg stands on its end when submerged in cold water, throw this away). They should be cooked soon after doing this test if they pass.
Alternatively you could paint them them uncooked, then (blow) remove the innards. Would make them somewhat fragile though.Truth always poses doubts & questions. Only lies are 100% believable, because they don't need to justify reality. - Carlos Ruiz Zafon, The Labyrinth of the Spirits0 -
Thanks HappyMJ and Mrs Arcanum. My daughter and I will do the water test to determine whether they are safe or not.0

I guess there will always be variations on this test, but the way we've being doing it is this :- If it sinks and lays on its side, then it's still fresh.
- If it sinks but stands on its end, it is less fresh but should still be fine (though we tend to ensure it is then cooked thoroughly before eating.)
- If the egg floats in the water then throw it away.

I have one egg left in my fridge dated 29th April. I am loathe to throw it away because I've said I will make meatballs tomorrow for the boyfriend and need an egg to bind the mince. But if I throw it I will have to buy more eggs and there is no point when I go back to my parents on the friday. So.....is it still edible? Pretty sure my mum keeps her eggs waaaaaaaaaaay past the date on the boxMoney money money.

Do the float test - put egg in large bowl of water - if it sinks it's ok - if it floats it isn't!
I keep eggs way o-o-d too!0 -
Thats just what I would do the float test!
If the egss are kept in the fridge they will keep for far longer than the sell by date, its only when left out in the warm they begin to degrade.Free/impartial debt advice: Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) | National Debtline | Find your local CAB0 -

Hi abby,
As Margaret has said do the float test to check but it will almost certainly be fine. This thread has more advice:
Dates on eggs / how long do they keep for?
I'll add your thread to it later to keep the replies together.
