What if it is not going to be as lucky and (don't want to jinx anything, but early mc so common, apparently) you need to resume ttc after this month... It would just you both at rest, I think.

This is what I thought, at least he's then been checked if we have to TTC again.

On the similar note - how long did you ttc before asking doctors to investigate why it is not happening?

We had to wait the 'standard' 12 months of TTC before the doctor would look into it more. We went to see the doctor after 12 months and I took with me the details of my cycles within that time, he could see it wasn't right at all (cycles between 40-80 days and probably no ovulation) so prescribed 2 cycles of clomid to encourage ovulation and more regular cycle and for OH to have semen analysis, before moving onto further tests if I am not pregnant by the end of 2nd cycle of clomid.

Personally, I wouldn't have waited 16 months if I could have been seen at 12 months of TTC, you are being very patient! Are you keeping records of your cycles (length of cycle, BBT, CM, OV predictor kit results or anything else) to help the doctor get an idea of whats going on when you do see them?

I have my BBT since last November, expect for a week or so in April, when I lost me thermometer in a hotel. I don't keep notes on CM as I don't really see that much of it. My cycles are quite regular, 28 days with the exception of the last ones: 26 - 30 - 27. My temperature does rise in the month, although it is not always a clear jump, and it may look more like a hill sometimes than a cliff, iykwim. I don't want to rush too much. I want to concentrate on other things for a few months (like trying to enjoy my job). Read the TCOYF book. I also have my BBT on fertility friend, so I can print out the graphs as well.

I don't know how would I say I need time off to go to the doctors - what would I say if they ask what is wrong with me!!!! I am no good at not telling the truth.... Also - no one except you lot know that we are ttc. And I wouldn't want people at work to find out as I am hoping for a payrise in a few months and maybe a promotion later on... I think since I have been in this company for a short time only, I want to give myself time to get used to this place as well, and build more of a financial cushion for when I do get the glorious BFP...

    Sorry - that was long....

No need for anyone at work to know, I just say I have a doctors appointment and no-one asks what for (probably because it would be rude!) but if anyone did then I'd just say 'womens stuff' because they probably wouldn't delve any deeper than that and it would be dropped.
  • Hello, Thankyou for all your supportive messages. I am now comfy cuddled up in bed after my lap and dye this morning. I was 1st on the list and all the staff in the hospital were really lovely and looked after me so well.
I was home by 3pm , I probably would have been earlier but I do not react well to aneasthetic and was quite sick despite all the anti- sickness drugs (I have had this before so thought I might be).

I had what I would describe as very bad period type pain as I came round in recovery- which they instantly gave me a liquid painkiller and that worked very quickly. I can honestly say that I feel very well- just slightly uncomfortable in my stomach, a bit bloated and a bit tired but no actual pain.

I got my results form the doctor before I went home and I feel its all positive.
Both tubes are clear, the endo has not returned, my left ovary has healed well and looks very healthy( I had a 10cm dermoid cyst removed by laparotomy in Aug 2006 and endo lasered away) and the doctor said the scar tissue etc caused by that op is as good as can be expected and no major problem. So I will have a follow up appt with my consutant to discuss the next step. All in all I feel quite hopeful as I was expecting the worst results.

My op was done by a different doctor to the consultant I had previously seen and I have to say I was really relieved as I did not like the consultant and felt he was a bit dismissive and disinterested. The Doctor today made me feel much more comfortable and reassured and really took his time to explian the results.

Sorry If this post is way too long and TMI (I think I'm still feeling a little high!) but I thought it might reassure any of you that may have this procedure - it was much easier and much less painfull than I had anticipated. Any questions- feel free to ask.

Sending positive vibes to you all - I'm off for some slumber now xx

Well I tested last night (OH couldn't wait lol) and have a BFP. It felt weird because I just didn't accept it, thinking i was imagining the line and OH said it's not like it's feint, it's definitely a line. Had a Boots digital one for back-up incase this should ever happen and got the plus sign! I thought long and hard about posting it on here, it was actually on my mind most of the night (as I lay awake) and I felt guilty kind of, but in the end I thought I'm not a newbie who no-ones knows, I've been on the TTC threads since the other one started and hopefully some of you 'know' who I am (if that makes sense), and I would be pleased if it was 'one of us long-timers'.

I am well aware it is very early days, OH wants to tell everyone we know and I want to keep it to ourselves for a bit for obvious reasons, think he's calmed down now and could manage to keep it in. I have a doctors appointment for tonight which I booked last week incase AF came and I needed to get prescribed one last lot of Clomid, so will keep that and use it to discuss some things about the pregnancy, my sister had a terrible time with blood clots early on and they thought I may be the same way, so want to ask for blood tests asap for this.

And OH decided not to go for the test today, he wanted to celebrate with some more BD-ing last night (well just 'dancing'), he is still going to go but in a few weeks as he couldn't keep up the abstination this time!

Congratulations honeypop!!!!!! I am so happy for you! I think it also give hope to all those 12M+ TTCers, so thank you for sharing!

I hope all goes well and enjoy your pregnancy. Maybe I won't wait till New Year to get the ball rolling... Will rethink after this month - I am on CD9 today, so give it a go this month. Although, don't feel like BDing much - I am just knackered every evening and I am going to bed by 9pm!!!!

  • A great big congratulations to :j honeypop for her BFP:j
I'm so pleased that one of us "old timers " has at last got a BFP !!!!!

It gives the rest of us some hope !!!!
  • Now on CD 35, and still now sign of AF,tested again this am and got another BFN,I've never been this late before, I just hope that this isn't a sign that there is another problem to add to OH sperm count.

Our appointment with the fertility clinic is in 2 weeks and I need to have a day 2 - 5 LH blood test before I go,if AF doesn't come with in the next week I'll have to give them a ring and see if I need to delay the appointment.

Baby dust to us all X
