I for one am pleased this thread has started, no offence to the OP of the other thread or those that posted on there but there do seem to be a lot of us "long timers" and it is dishearening when people are getting BFP after a month or two.....not that I don't wish them all the luck in the world.....pah - you know what I mean.
I have 2 dd's 12 and 10 and have been actively ttc for 5 years now, although we've not used any contraception for 8 years. Problem lies with me not ovulating, I do have a couple of very small cysts but was told this wasn't an issue. Have had 6 months of clomid and now been dismissed from my consultant as I wasn't interested in IVF.
Just taken my first month of Agnus Castus which has shortened my cycle from 36 days to 30, lets hope it helps. Is anyone else taking it or have any stories about it?
Good luck to all :j"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
katyag - there is a school of thought that you are in fact more fertile immediately after stopping a short course of the pill ( I have also seen conflicting info!). I haven't read the other thread, but assume that people who are having difficulty conceiving are doing things like not immediatley getting up after BD, perhaps even putting a pillow under their bottom to tip the pelvis up and help the sperm reach their target. etc. I am sure there are lots of other methods. I have also heard of many couples who decide to give up trying and go on holiday only to conceive straight away. Stress is a major factor in halting the ability to conceive. Also obviously this may or maynot help anyone, but if you are overweight losing it will help in conception.0

I only ask because it seems very dramatic to be considering something as rigorous as IVF when they haven't even flushed your tubes to check that they are not slightly blocked or closed. If there is nothing obviously wrong, it would seem common sense to at least have a lap & dye.
My sister was ttc for two years, had her tubes flushed and has subsequently had three children right away. I also had mine done when I had my ovaries drilled by laparoscopy (due to PCOS) after ttc for 6 years and personally think that it made a big difference to my four subsequent pregnancies.
It's just that you mentioned that you didn't know what your next move was? I would have thought that your next move would be referral from your GP to a gynae consultant who can give you a proper "MOT" (as my consultant put it) before considering more invasive fertility treatment.
It is hard. I do know as I tried for years to have children. But if it's what you really want, then you have to keep on trying. Your GP is only one cog in the machine and by no means has all the answers."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
Hi everyone!
I am part of the other thread too, but wanted to join in here aswell because I have been ttc for 14 months now. It is really hard on the other thread that people pop on for a couple of days then before you know it, pow BFP! I sooo want it to be me next but had a 21 day blood test last cycle and ovulation was unlikely. My, what I thought was 28 days, cycle is average 36 days so really starting to take notice of what my body is doing. Also going to start BBT because if OV is not happening when its supposed to I would like to know *if* it does actually happen. My sleep patterns are up the wall at the moment aswell so its making temping difficult as you're supposed to do it at the same time and after at least 3 hours unbroken sleep. That just aint happening at the moment. Going to have another 21 day blood test this month but on day 23 this time in case I am later than "normal".
Well, I hope its ok to join in here and fingers crossed we will all get some good news soon.

I agree! I hardly posted on the other thread, though I read it because of all the people who joined because they had stopped taking their pill that day, and couldn't even be bothered to read from the start of the thread to find out what the abbreviations meant, but expected us all to cheer 3 weeks later for their BFP!
IMHO it was apparent to anyone who bothered to read the original thread that it was originally intended for people who had been trying to conceive for a while without success, to swop tips and advice, and to offer support when we felt down when friends and colleagues appeared to conceive easily. It ended up being a little hijacked by those uber-fertile women, who didn't have the sensitivity to read the thread fully and realise that it was maybe not the appropriate place to flaunt their ease in conceiving.
Sorry if this sounds bitter, but having experienced problems conceiving twice in my life and for long periods of time (6 years before conceiving first time) and 18 months without success this time, it does take its emotional toll.0 -
Sorry if this sounds bitter
Not at all, I said exactly the same things on the other TTC thread a week or so ago about the 'newbies' posting their BFP's after 1 month TTC and my post seemed to be ignored (or not remarked upon or agreed with) so I thought I'd been a bit rude.
I also said about another thread for the long-term TTC-ers but no-one seemed interested so I didn't bother, glad to see one up and running now though!!

Here I am - we have been ttc for 12 months now (started month 13) and it is still on BFN that I get... I am getting a bit upset about this, but what can you do - it will happen eventually... Or not... Can I vent out time from time?... Like now....
I have noticed a lump down there, just below the hair line about 10 days ago. (sorry if TMI) It was the size of peppercorn first, and now it seems to be the size of a big bean, but haven't increased in the last few days and I am trying to get all my courage up to call gp and make an appointment. I have never ben to see this gp as we have only registered with the surgery few months back... It just makes me worry, and all it will be something like swollen lymph node, probably, and will disappear a day before the appointment... I hope this is not going to make our 'project' impossible... (Don't like seeing doctors!!!)
PS. Called surgery. They gave me an appointment today at 5pm!!!! I was going to ask for one next week, maybe Wednesday... Need to get home before for the shower. I am scared now even more!!!!!! I hope it is a woman doctor, as in that shock of such a quick appointment I forgot to ask...Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -
Nicki,
I was one of the lucky ones on the TTC forum and I completely agree with you. Newbies came, announced they were TTC and very shortly announced they were pregnant and then jumped off to the pregnancy forum.
I stopped the pill back in Jan but was wanting 7 months to get the pill out of my system before TTC and in that time I did read the forum to find out all about it and what problems people face and what to look out for. I learnt a lot before actually TTC. But there are many who come and go very quickly without taking sometime to actually read about it. One person on there recently said they had been lurking for months, never posted and then posted to saying she had a BFP - I found that very insensitive to those on there - if you want to spread good news like that without even posting previously, then go to the pregnancy forum!
So, I just want to say that not everyone is like as described above - but many are and as a lucky one, I totally agree with you!Proud mother of twin boys - double the trouble and twice the pleasure! :T0 -
GINVZT - i would not worry too much as from what you have said it sounds like a blocked gland. Is it excrutiatingly painful to touch? If this is what it is your gp firstly will have seen it all before so will not be in the slightest bit phased secondly will tell you to soak in a hot bath or as hot as you can take it to draw the stuff to the surface and then attempt to squeeze the goo out. The pain is unbarable i wont lie to you but if you can do it yourself it will be better than the GP lancing it. HTH.:j Was married 2nd october 2009 to the most wonderful man possible:j

Now you got me scared!!!!!It doesn't look like anything you could squeeze, it feels hard. It is not painful now, but it was sore for the first few days. Now it is just a lump under the skin (def not an in-grown hair). I can't concentrate on the work now. Just looking at the clock when I have to leave!!!!!Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0
