You could buy a basal body temperature thermometer with a diary for under £15 at boots I think. I did this and combined with the persona monitor which I had been using as contraception it proved to be very accurate. It can also be used to identify infertile cycles as these don't have a temperature shift after ovulation. I noted from my charts that although I was ovulating (biphasic chart with higher temp after ovulation) the temperatures were a little erratic.
After a search online I found out that taking vitamin B6 and evening primrose oil is supposed to balance out hormones. Next cycle was much better with beter fertile signs..... "Ick the bump" is due on 1/04/2006 :rolleyes:Trying to earn £2015 in 2015. Slightly early start. £175.88 today.

Depending on your age if you have been unsucessful for a few months and have a history of problem periods see your GP now. If necessary lie and say you have been trying a year.
I was 27 was I started trying. My periods had been a problem since age 13. A few months of blood tests revealed I wasn't ovulating even though I had mucus changes etc that would indicate ovulation was present. GP can prescribe clomid to kick start ovulation. Didn't work for me but does for many. I was then referred to hospital for further treatment. The first month I ovulated (they scan ovaries) I conceived. I had just turned 30.
I didn't have to go down the IVF route but it still took 3 years to get me to ovulate. This is why I say to consider seeing your GP if you have a history of menstrual problems sooner. I had the cervical mucus changes that the book details but it didn't mean I was ovulating.
Good luck.~Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.~:)

it took me 3 years to concieve too. that's 3 years from the first visit to the GP to say things weren't happening. a referral for a scan takes forever, so does a referral to a gynaecologist, then s/he'll want his own scan and his own blood tests. after all that he'll probably tell you to try for another year! i was diagnosed with pcos 4 years before i concieved, the consultant wouldn't accept the gp diagnosis even though it was from a scan and blood tests. on the final gynae appointment he said leave it 6 months then come and see me to get clomid. in the meantime i'd persuaded one of his minions to get me a laparoscopy because of daily pain. that took almost a year to get a date. the endometriosis was sorted out during that and i finally concieved next time. i found out i was pregnant so i didn't need toi the comid appointment. if i'd needed a hysterosalpingogram (?) or ovarian drilling i don't know how much longer all of that would have taken.
when i was first diagnosed with pcos i joined an online group whose members advised me to go straight to the gp and say i'd been trying for a year. i didn't, but now i see their point lol!52% tight0 -
I also have PCOS and was trying for 7 years, including 3 years of treatment. I then broke up with my husband, met someone else and ended up pregnant naturally after only 6 months of us getting together......... I think that I got so stressed out with trying that once I had 'moved on' I relaxed enough and my daughter arrived!
My friend was trying recently (is now pregnant) and her GP advised that he wont refer until she had been trying for 18 months to 2 years as its taking longer and longer for people to conceive these days.
Good luck!2012 wins approx £11,000 including 5k to spend on a holiday :j0 -
yes, a friend who doesn't have any fertility problems took a full 12 months to concieve.52% tight0

congratulations :-)
i have a friend with pcos who concieved after losing 2 stone on the vitaline diet (there's a pcos diet too, or any GI diet would help). i also know thin people who didn't need to diet but changed their eating habits and also concieved. it's all about biscuits lol! insulin resistance, a precursor to type 2 diabetes will affect the hormone balance.52% tight0 -
