    website fault?

So how come they havent used this before when they were selling pc's that took money off when you added things on?

Also, what if you ordered by phone, how do they justify that?

Yea, someone at AV Forums was told this was possible. But who knows how long it would take for Dell to refund you.

Knowing Dell they would take as long as possible to pay you out or have a clause in the T&C's to get out of it

From the above post that Dell are insisting the error is down to the website and they will only offer you a £70 is a joke as I would not spend the money with them and rather decline the offer of a voucher. If Dell won't budge on the matter surely they will lose custom as their "customer care" or "customer service" is not existant and I for certain would not spend a penny with them. If it was an internet fault why did they access funds on my credit cards if no TV's existed and why keep on moving the delivery date if they knew they had no intention of completing the order.

I received an email saying that they will try and make an order to the same spec but if they cannot then a member of the customer care team will be in contact which means if we dont email you then your not getting a phone call as we cannot be ar**d phoning you up as from my experience of Dell telling me they will phone then waiting for the call which never comes

I don't justify it, condone it or even try to explain it, all I said was that's what they have told me I will be offered (haven't actually had the email yet) and I am too fed up of it all to bother pushing any further. I hardly even watch TV anyway so I am just going to spend the money on a new CRT instead and forget about it.

I will however, make sure I never buy anything from DELL ever, every again and will tell friends and family to avoid them.

sorry, that was a kinda rhetorical general question.

due to a technical fault on the website which meant orders were confirmed which should not have been and they have also been told that Dell will defend that fact as far as it is necessary.

Well thats a great statement to make - a technical fault!

So how do they explain that orders placed days, and I mean days, after mine were fulfilled. Was their website responsible for the phone orders too!

My order was made on the 24th November and the order confirmation was received by myself the same day. I rang Dell a few days after and the agent said that all was fine with the order and that they had stock. I then made another order on behalf of my parents via the website.

Over the last few days, after seeing the order status looked like things weren't good, I have wasted hours on the phone. I have never realised customer service could be so poor.

I think that the offer of a voucher is unacceptable. Their defense based on a technical fault is laughable and they are aware that they are in trouble over this.

I will be taking this further.
Could someone who placed an order after me and received their TV please message me.
  • Just Thinking there-

Did anyone else receive a call from Dell Sales Team by phone to confirm the order and or credit card details?

I was contacted the day after placing my order and the order was confirmed with me by telephone. Surely the Sales Team are well aware of what stock is on their own system.

Yep i got a call asking me to confirm my credit card details even though i placed the order over the phone, and i was assured i would be getting one as they had stock when the order was placed.

    Good point!

Dell's "technical fault" arguement looks weaker and weaker...

I really hope that they read this thread and realise their position is so weak. Perhaps they need to have another management meeting

Spoke to Dell twice today about my order (received a written order confirmation on 24 November) and then had them confirm verbally over the phone each time that my order had been "rebooked" (whatever that means) and that I would be receiving an upgraded model at no extra cost. When I asked what the status of this rebooking was, I was told that it would not be on the system for 24-48 hours - sound familiar?!

This all happened through the Indian call centre so I imagine that this is probably more lies from Dell, the company we have come to love and trust!

I should also add that I am in this for the long term - mainly because many people ordered after me and actually received the goods (I also think Dell don't have a leg to stand on).

Does anybody know if in law there is a term called "loss of bargain"? I seem to remember it being used in a forum once. But can not remember where or what the details where.[/QUOTE]
Look at the bottom of this web page, it tells you about "loss of bargain" https://www.bcentral.co.uk/finance/law/business-law-faq.mspx
