I have no doubt, if Dell were to refund everyone due to not having the stock to meet demand, they would probably get away with it. However, if this was the case, they would have done this by now, but they appear to be keeping everyone at bay with their "We'll get back to you" line. I believe they're going through a damage limitation exercise, with their biggest fear being the bad publicity they're likely to receive, especially in the run up to Christmas. Hang in there, if they're buying back stock, we may yet get what we ordered.

Just speaking to a guy I know who works for Dell and he says that they have been forced to buy all their stock back from places like Ebuyer in an effort to fulfill orders.
I don't think Dell are buying them from ebuyer, because there were 2 on ebuyer before, now there gone. If Dell were buying them from ebuyer I don't think ebuyer would put them back on there site.

I am getting really annoyed - still no call. WHY don't they just make a decision and tell us what it is. Either they are cancelling and its tough (I have not had my credit card charged yet so they can't refund me) and they will make some crap offer like 10% of the 32", or they are trying to source more/alternative 26" TVs in which case they should tell us and give us a timescale or they are going to send us better TVs.

It surely can't be that hard for them to pick an option and inform their customers. Never, never will I buy anything from them again after this experience.

Dell have bought back stock from Ebuyer - as far as I can remember last night when I checked Ebuyer (just by coincidence) they had over 1000 of the 26" LCD TV's in stock - now they are sold out.

This info was given to me by a guy I know works for Dell who posts on another forum. The guy he works alongside has been involved in the 26" LCD deal and said that they have bought stock back from Ebuyer and that they are investigating all avenues of getting more stock or sourcing from elsewhere.
  • I'm with marty1888, I think Dell are in the wrong. Dell have realised they have dropped a serious b0110ck! The way they treat their customers is beyond belief and if they do actually do anything for us I will be surprised.

What twists the knife in for me is that they still allowed my order to be processed and they took the funds off me even when they knew they had issues with supply. They took the cash even though they knew they could not supply the goods to fulfil my order. This is deceitful to say the lease and possibly false advertising? I am not legal expert but there must be a law against this. Take a load of orders and the cash for something they can not supply. Then make an "offer" off a 10% discount on something that costs twice as much! Scandalous.
Also, they were very slow in pulling the offer?

Along with a lot of us on here my put-back delivery date is tomorrow. I have my fingers crossed. Realistically I think I will be spending the week-end drafting my letter of complaint to Dell, Trading Standards, Watchdog etc...

I just got a call from Dell, the same lady I spoke to yestarday (Mary Quinn). he told me that Dell will not be getting any more LCD and that it was a technical issue with the website. I asked what the issue was and was told it was that the web site showed stock when there was not any.

I was offered £75 Voucher. I said I can not accept o reject the offer as I am not aware of were I stand legally. She said I waould get a email regarding the voucher and that it was up to mine if I wanted to use it.

Now what??? If they blame it on a technical fault they can get away with this right?

I am sure if they could use that excuss, they would have to prove it, and the only thing they are looking into is how to get out of the mess they are in. Don't forget we have the order confirmation, and we were all phoning up why have they only just found out it was a fault. Sounds a bit fishy to me.
  • Sounds like an excuse to me.
Damage limitation by waving a voucher under our noses.
It does not excuse them for taking my cash after they realized they had supply probs. People had concerns as early as the 28/11
