I ordered my tv over the phone and got the guy to double check they were in stock, he even told me some story that they were going to run out of stock the following day and assured me that i would get the tv.
So the story of the faulty website cannot be used in my case as i did not order over the internet.

My (second) w2600 has developed a fault and so I phoned earlier today to see if they would replace it. The chap to whom I spoke first couldn't resolve the fault and so I was 'ordered' a replacement for tomorrow. Later, I received a call from Dell confirming that I am to get a brand new W2600 tomorrow via courier. So, either their stocking system is telling porkies or they've got more in (presumably via the ebuyer 'clawback' story). I 'phoned Ireland direct.

    Mike.

Has anyone got some numbers I can call to get through to the Irish call centre in Bray or somewhere in the UK.

I'm tired of speaking to the incompetents working in their Bangalore call centre who don't seem to have a clue whats going on.

As my order number is no longer valid I can't get beyond the first person I speak to at the Indian Call Centre - refused to pass me on to a manager because I had no order number (gave her the old order number, email address and postcode four times). Even went as far as saying they didn't have an Irish or UK office - I asked her to stop lying to me!
  • Ay up Flimber, how does the swap out work if they say they have no stock? Do they keep some back to swap out faulty TVs? What would have happened if they did not have any in stock?
Does anybody know if there is a new 26" model due for release shortly? Apologies if this has already been posted, I've missed it!

It stinks of incompetence to me. They took me cash after they realised they had some supply issues.
Info on the avforum indicates that they sold truckloads to Aria and e-buyer (400) after they had taken my cash.

I work in IT (anorak type) and I have management meeting tomorrow. We will be discussing appointing Dell as primary supplier for our IT equipment. PC's, servers, printers etc....our budget varies between 5-15Mill depending on projects. It has not fell below 5Mill for six years. How can I support a move from our current supplier to Dell given my experience to date?

It is my final delivery date tomorrow, fingers crossed, blinding flash of light, a courier walking on water, burning bush, any kind of miracle will do really.

Unfortunatly the only way of getting through to the Irish call centre is by getting put through to the Indian one but they mess you around, I got through quite quickly the other day by asking for the complaints department and got transfered to customer care in ireland.

On the phone today speaking to the Indian call centre I managed to get another number and according to the woman this was her supervisors number but we know Dell are not the most relaible at telling customers the facts

    Doreen
    0870 907 5128

Don't know if this number is correct or if in fact it is the supervisors number as I have not bothered phoning it yet
  • I know these people are allegedly a really bad company to deal with and I am not encouraging anybody to buy off them. The link is just for info purposes, to illustrate "our" tele is still available.

Does anybody know if in law there is a term called "loss of bargain"? I seem to remember it being used in a forum once. But can not remember where or what the details where.

Well Sonia called me back this evening and basically apologised profusely but she said they have all (in the Irish call centre) been told that it was due to a technical fault on the website which meant orders were confirmed which should not have been and they have also been told that Dell will defend that fact as far as it is necessary.

She said I will shortly be getting an email stating this and offering me a £75 voucher (with no minimum spend or any other conditions) and that if I want to persue it legally then it will be up to me.

Obviously as they haven't charged my credit card I don't realistically plan to sue them - I am so fed up of it all I will probably take the voucher option (I'm sure my husband can think of some component or other he needs as per usual).

Good luck to anyone else who takes things further, but I have reached my limit on this one, its not worth this much stress over a TV.

By the way, to get the ireland call centre I always call before 10am and call 0870 906 0010, take option 1, then option 2, then option 2. This has worked most times for me - if i get the Indian centre I hang up and try it again.

Apparantly the loss of bargain law should apply and I vagely believe it is something to do with if you can find the same item with the same spec from another company then the company that you purchased from can buy the TV for you and invoice you the original cost you paid. I would double check with trading standards for the exact meaning of this law as I am not 100% sure if I have explained it correctly

Yea, someone at AV Forums was told this was possible. But who knows how long it would take for Dell to refund you.
