Just checked my online order status, for the past week or so it has been stating that my order will be delivered on 5th Dec but the order was still in pre production.

When I checked today, I can not see my order and get the following message:-

"We have located your order but we cannot advise a status, please email Dell Customer Care following the instructions below and we will be in contact with you".

    Not sure what too do?

Exactly the same here....Will phone them over lunch.

I phoned them, offered me 10% off the 32", no need to tell you what I said.

I just spoke to an Irish guy, who said that they have had a lot of similar calls and there is a board meeting tonight to decide what to do about all the orders. He said the order can't be re-opened and they would be contacting us over the next few days... how much of that is true I don't know.

That actually sounds like the first piece of news which I can actually believe.

Just spoke to Dell some how I got through to a Call entre in Ireland, spoke to a Lady called Mary Quinn. She told me that the above meant that my order had been cancelled due to no more stock and end of line product.

I explained that it did not give Dell the right to cancel my order without notice etc, she quoted T&C Section 14 Force Majeure, I kept my cool and carmly explained that Force Majeure is not acceptable in these circumastance and I then Quoted Dell's T&C Section 3. Quotations/Orders/Contract.

At that point she tried to flog me off to the Sales Team and I refused as I did not want to buy from Dell. She then said she will pass my details onto the Exceptions Team and some one will phone me back. She explained that in these situations Dell normally mobalise a team to deal with the issue but have not done so yet.

I asked to speak to a Team Leader but she refused to pass it on and said someone will call me back.

Dell seem to be trying to get away with this by just cancelling orders, I suggest we keep pressing on them and see what happens, I have also written to Watchdog.

Does any one know were we stand legally????

Well I assume they will have to do something to keep us quiet as long as we keep calling because we have a right to, and it will eventually give them a headache if it hasn't already.

Hopefully we'll be contacted within the next few days.

I am 99% sure that from an English point of view, as long as we have a written order confirmation, we have a very strong legal case against them (in particular under their own T&Cs!). This is definitely not a force majeure.

Am definitely going to keep pressing. Let's get those Watchdog entries up!

Some email adds from AV Forums.
OK, I got my W2600, but I think its more luck than anything else, I opened a call via the ww.Dell.co.uk web site, quoting my IR number, and got a reply back with Order and customer numbers. Ok here is the email address of the generic mailbox uki_olos_queries@dell.com.

and some specific customer care supervisors email addresses:

    uki_customer_care@dell.com (general email address)

    Customer Care executive = arunajyothi_raja@dell.com
    Resolution Expert Angel = angel_showri@dell.com
  • Hi All

    Is there a pattern emerging?

Dell Customer Services India asked me to wait until Friday 09th December for delivery. (sound familure?). Then they said if I had not had my TV they would send me another one. I asked if they could send another one straight away rather than waiting until Friday. I have been told that they can not send one straight away as they do not have stock. If they can not find my TV then they will cancel my order.

I have informed them by E-Mail that I will wait until the 72 Hours have passed (Friday 09th December 1700Hrs) and told them not to cancel the order unless they have written confirmation from me to do so.

I will play them along with them until Friday and see what happens. In the meantime I will arm myself with all the information everybody keeps supplying and wait for the telephone call where they try to cancel my order and offer me a discount that means I have to may more than double my initial outlay!

Here is the best bit. Dell are sticking to the wait until Friday story. Even though the courier phoned me yesterday to say they have not had the TV! The plot thickens.

There have been some interesting developments. The board meeting sounds interesting (cheers Brodel). Somebody, organization, web site or body should put pressure on Dell to do the decent thing. Honour all existing orders with a 32"LCD instead. They could turn it around into a good Marketing ploy just before Christmas!

Well I was told earlier I'd be called back later today after a meeting was held, and that everyone in the same situation would receive the same offer, no matter what that offer turned out to be, there would be no exceptions.

I can't say I have any faith in this and no call back has occured yet either! This was my first order from Dell, and when we were initally looking at it my husband also spotted a laptop with a spec he liked the look of which we decided to order if we got a good service for our first order. Needless to say, they won't be getting an order for the laptop after this debacle unless they get a move on and sort things out for us.
