  • Will be a fight, I believe.

If anyone has already complained somewhere, please give a link or contact. Costumers will have better chance if a third party is willing to involve, and this would only happen if there are LOTS of complaints on the same issue.

This is a link for Trading Standards:

Use the locator to find your local trading standards. When contact them, remember to say that there are many costumers on the same boat!

Unbelievable!!!! Dell actually called me back!

Not good news however. Sonia explained that she had now had it confirmed that there are no mor of these TVs and currently no alternative product. She said she had asked her manager about it, because they have had a lot of calls about it and they don't know what to say to angry customers. Her manager said that it had been passed to the marketing department who are making a decision on what to do.

She has promised (and I almost believe her this time) that she will call me with a final answer as to what solution the marketing department offer. I suspect this won't involve a replacement TV though, more than likely it will be the 10% that someone else has been offered.

As my credit card hasn't been charged yet, the trading standards people have no further advice for me, so I am not sure where to go form here. Once I have the final offer, assuming it is not a replacement TV, I will be getting my friendly solicitor to write to them about this, but I suspect I won't get anywhere even with my order confirmation and their own terms and conditions.

I hope they don't try to offer me 10% or even 20% off another Tv, or I will be taking it further, and I hope I won't be the only one as they have not only lied but have messed us all around giving us false information  .

Take a deep breath. Relax. It's only a TV.

  • I'm not very optimistic, coz it's true that Dell hasn't even taken the payment. It's a clever way to get an upper hand in this kinda situation. Our best bid is Dell's negociation, as Dell does consider carefully about their reputation according to their past moves on those mispricing items. TS and Waterdog might be helpful to add some pressure. However, it's definitely not advisable to go to a small claims court. We actually lose nothing in this case, so what can we claim? Bargaining rights? I doubt if the judge would consider it at all.

It would be interesting for those that still don't have the TV's to add up the total amount of money they have spent with Dell in the past and then make a point of it in emails to Dell or Watchdog etc, so they realise that many of the people that ordered are common Dell customers and they could be losing a fair amount of future business.

If they havent taken money then you dont stand any chance of wining. The problem is even if money was taken, it would be up to the court what they deem of when a contract was formed. Honestly your wasting your time if no money was taken. By all means complian as much as you want, it won't get you anywhere.

I have to agree, I will go sa far as getting my mate to send them a letter with some vague legal threats, but i won't do anything that's going to cost me anything. And I don't realistically expect to get anywhere with it. Just wish they would make the decision now and let me know.

I'm in a slightly different position to all of you, let me explain.

I ordered very early on in this saga and went away for a few days (left my contact simcard out of my phone ;)) came back to discover they'd cancelled my order as they needed to confirm details by phone - something I've never had to do before when ordering.

I complained and was on the phone for about an hour making several phone calls. In the end I got dell to concede and following this I recieved an email asking for the details they needed. The 'detail' they needed was a landline number.......

Anyway so now dell have gone very quiet, I've sent several emails off to the person who's supposed to be dealing with it and not had a single response, I made several phonecalls to represensatives and have been fobbed off with various excuses. I will ring this girl tommorow and hopefully we should see some action.
  • Spoke to customer services today (india call centre) about my order and was told that the delay was due to them waiting for component parts to come in (i could have told them that from just reading the website!) and that I should have my tv by the current delivery date of the 9th.

Why do i get the feeling that this is going to turn out false??
