Hi Brodel, apologies if I have missed this somewhere but were you ever advised that they had lost your order?
I am at a stage where my order has been lost/misplaced and was wondering if you were one step ahead of me!?

Hey, no I've heard nothing about the order being misplaced. My timeline goes like this..

Ordered on Nov 28th around 9pm
Dell called to confirm the order and credit card details 30mins later
Recieved Order Confirmation email on 29th
    Delievery Due on Dec 2nd
    Changed to Dec 5th
    Changed to Dec 9th

An hour earlier my order was showing a due date of Dec 9th, and now I get the message that I posted previously.

I spoke with the Indian Customer Care and when they got worked up I had trouble understanding them (especially with the dodgy line...)! However, I did manage to get the chap I spoke to to speak clearly and confirm my understanding of how things were to be resolved. I really doubt he had the authority to make that call but I will see what happens.

    Rutham

So far I have spent about 2 hours on the phone and I agree with you - Dell's customer support is absolutely disgraceful - it really leaves something to be desired.

I am pursuing this very hard because if any of us wants to purchase a 26" LCD of a similar standard, we are going to have to shed out a lot more money. For those of us with binding contracts with Dell, I understand that from an English law point of view Dell is under an obligation to put us in the position in which we should have been in had they supplied the goods (i.e. they must supply us with the 26" LCD we ordered, give us a 26" LCD from another manufacturer which matches the same specs or put us in a better position that the 26").

    Keep fighting all!

    Similar timings to you Bro

    order 28th around ~2pm
    confirmed 29th
del due 5th then changed to 8th.
pre-production from 30th no change since.
Haven't heard a word from dell the whole time (no calls at all)
    Nothing debited from cc.

Strongly suspect I won't be getting a new telly Thursday but according to dells t&cs we have a binding contract so i'm going to stick to that line. I think its irrelevent whether any money has been taken up to this point.

On the other hand if Dell allows binding contracts to be cancelled in this manner then surely there would be nothing to stop anyone ordering some of their msot expensive servers and cancelling at the last minute would there ??

This is correct. Not available on any of the euro Dell sites though. This is surely a fairly powerful argument in getting them to supply? They can hardly wriggle out of their T&Cs on the basis of poor logistics.

Careful when phoning them, the woman I spoke to yesterday almost insisted on cancelling my order, I had to be very firm to keep it open.
  • What does pre-production mean? I don’t see how they are supposed to delivery my telly by tomorrow if it’s still in alleged pre-production.

What number are you guys calling Dell on?

Also, what happens if they’ve taken the money from your card already but not delivered yet?

Despite the same model number they are actually different sets.

The European model has a scart connector, the US one doesn't.

I'd also be prepared (if you get one) for the left shift you get using a 720p input via component. 480p is fine and 1080i slightly off (easily corrected in the menu) however 720p is so far off centre it is a joke.

I'm now looking for an Xbox 360 VGA connector.

I'd still accept one! Actually have no expectation of getting one of these now.

Just checked my online order status, for the past week or so it has been stating that my order will be delivered on 5th Dec but the order was still in pre production.

When I checked today, I can not see my order and get the following message:-

"We have located your order but we cannot advise a status, please email Dell Customer Care following the instructions below and we will be in contact with you".

    Not sure what too do?
