Yea, I read that. It seems a bit too cheap to be true though if Dell say to return it at your own cost and don't give any mention of a discounted return rate.

I know my friend has a website (I can't really mention it as it is mainly XBOX modchipping related, sorry :() who offers a ParcelForce 24 courier service for around £9.50. This covers items up to 30kg! Since the TV is only 26kg total Dell are charging quite a bit at £13 (Although they do use these fancy "Business" couriers in my area!).

P.S. Has anyone opened the manuals? They are at least 1kg!

I got a £2.99 "Gold Digital" Aerial lead from Focus today (Probably a marketing ripoff, but I decided to give it a shot). Got to say I now have a little better picture after a channel rescan (Although now it claims ITV1 is on 5 and five is on 3). To be honest my picture is poor anyway at the moment because we have just moved into this house and no aerial amplifier has been set up yet...So we are all sharing the same signal which can reduce quality. I want to try XBOX and DVD player but I'm on the hunt for 'Component' cables as the technical boffins claim those offer the best quality ;)
  • I placed it on 27/11/2005 at 4.00pm. Recieving order confirmation later that evening

I got put through to Indian call center where after much bouncing around they told me my order had been cancelled. I asked why and they said my credit card had been rejected.

I found this very strange but before making a fuss I just asked why my order had been cancelled without my consultation or notification as I had supplied my phone number in the event something like this may happen. They had no answers and told me to ring customer care, strangely the exact same number I had just rang.

I then decided that I should check with my credit card company so I rang them. The girl could not be more helpful and was kind enough to provide me with some information. My card was authorized for a £363.08 on 27/11/05 at 4.03pm and also supplied me with the authorization code for future reference when i phone DELL. She also informed me the payment is still pending and Dell have 7 days to take up before it will be cancelled

I then took the oppurtunity to ring Dell who again bounced me around before telling me to ring customer care, strangely the exact same number I had rang again.

I am really quite annoyed about this. I had used dell in the past and had always been happy. In fact in my employment as an IT manager I have purchased many systems and servers at great expense without incident.

I plan on contacting my business sales rep in dell tomorrow to complain although i'm sure he'll not be able to solve the problem i'm hoping can put me through to someone who can.

I would normally let something like this drop but the lying & squirming about my card being rejected and total uselessness of the customer care has really upset me.

From a legal viewpoint I am in a binding contract with them according to their terms & conditions I dont see how they can get out of it. The price error cannot be applied to this either as this was a genuine offer with many people recieving their TV's

Anyone here got any advice on what more I can do or say to dell?

According to Dells T&C's once you receive "order confirmation" this means your order is allocated to you and in the event of the item not being avaliable they will offer another product of equal or higher value.

I don't know the exact wording in the t&c's but it is similar to above but I wonder if you quote the terms to them on the phone what would they say as surely once you have confirmation it is a contract and therefore legally binding.

I wonder if they are just telling people that there orders are cancelled and if you don't kick off on the phone or just let them cancel your order then this will cut down the number of TV's that they have sold as it looks like they have took too many orders.

Hope mine arrives, my delivery date has now moved to 5/12/05 from 2/12/05

If you read the ads for the PC's in the papers the return cost is £57 odd printed in the small print

 damn that is a lot if that's the case. Mine has been pushed back to the 5th too so I guess I have a couple more days thinking time before I can cancel.

Thats the PC return cost tho, if you did it yourself it would be around £20 including insurance, but 99% places dont insure glass not sure if LCD is classed as glass ?

True, I'm not sure how it would be classed either thogh.

For those that have tried freeview, what signal percentage do you get and how is the picture? I get around 60% and was wondering what to expect.

Well I've played with it all evening and I'm dead impressed. The slight ghosting on the TV from my DVD player must be because of the scart lead - reason because I connected it to the PC and played a DVD with no problem at all - it looked fantastic.

Only problem is lugging my PC from the office into the lounge (disconneecting / reconnecting).... can i get longer cables to ust trail out when needed?
