I had one hotel and one date I wanted, then added another couple of uk ones.
Maybe it's sour grapes, but I can't help feeling a tiny bit niggly when people come and post that they have been allocated a hotel-than decide it would be too far,or cost too much to get to.
If people had looked at this before they made their selection, more people may have got a hotel they genuinly needed.

Somehow, I don't think they will be offering the cancelled rooms to others. I emailed LHW and they told me to cancel directly with the hotel. I emailed the hotel if could change the date but absolutely no luck. I really, really wanted the Tschuggen Grand in Switzerland. It was my first choice but I just can't do the date they have given me.
If LHW had put in a comments section then I think they would have saved so much disappointment as I bet there are many people who put in fully flexible but with one or two exceptions during the period!0 -

yup totally agree - that has made me soooooo   not LHW fault that one just stupid people after a freebie they could never use anyway and then they have the cheek to ask if they think they could sell it on ebay or change the date despite having told them they were completely flexible  shame they arent charged anyway :rotfl:
stomps off after hollydays:rotfl:
Hoxton hotel anybody:D0 -
I think the promotion went askew by offfering too many choices.
If everybody just had one choice then it would be a matter of first come first served for that location and people who WERE flexible could tick the anywhere/anytime option knowing that there was more likelihood of that being available but that they could/would avail themselves of it and there wouldn't be as much wastage of the offers as there obviously will be.
I agree - I only entered two choices on my form and left the rest blank because all I wanted was a hotel in central Florence on specific dates. Luckily I got mine, but I didn't do the whole 'anywhere, any date' thing because as people have pointed out if I was allocated a random hotel in, I don't know, Hong Kong, clearly I wouldn't have used it...0 -

My issue here just reminds me of the time a kind friend gave a sandwich to a needy person who said they were starving, only to be told he didn't like cheese and tomato sandwiches, and gave it back!
This company did mess up,but they must now be thinking !!!!!!!
They would do well to remember, give some people an inch and they'll take a mile.0 -

.. exactly, and there would have been someone in Hong Kong with a slower time who had put that down as his/her first choice and could have enjoyed the prize.
I only put down Raphael in Paris for specific dates as I know I could make them and nothing else. I knew more or less straight away it wasn't going to happen as my server went down and I couldn't get an internet connection, which was so frustrating after being pre-registered and following this from it's inception and ended up with a time of 70x, but I'm so happy for all the people who are pleased with what they got:T .
I would still love to hear if anyone got Paris though.0 -
My number is 1224770487 and I am still waiting to hear. :-(
Did anyone els'e email get caught on the spam filter? I had this horrible feeling that I deleted mine, but just rang them and they confirmed they have no bookings at the hotel I asked for on the date I requested AT ALL. As in no bookings. Doesn't that sound strange??0 -
Could it be the date has been allocated to someone else, but it's still in limbo till people make their mind up?0

The room they had offered us was the cheapest they had available, 2 single beds North facing, normally £360 per night. The hotel is in the middle of nowhere (about 2 hrs 40 by train from Zurich) and as the ski season hasn't started properly yet, its main draw is as a spa retreat. We spent a lot of time on Saturday evening working out the logistics, flights etc of meeting this reservation and concluded that for the expense of travel and entertainment while we were there the booking would cost us around £1000, even with the virtually free room charge. So we were forced to conclude that this was a gift horse in dire need of a dental checkup, and declined the reservation. Hope that someone who can easily make it is offered it. Working all that out, and entering the comp itself, certainly fired the imagination and kept us both entertained for a couple of days!
I'm staying in this hotel next week and found that Swiss Air are doing flights for about £100? There are also loooads of restaurants in Arosa that offer various food at various prices, so the trip shouldn't need to cost £1000? Having spent ages looking at their website I think it would be such a shame to miss the chance, its worth it for the spa alone!! Although, the hotel have emailed me and said that their breakfast is £22 - so it'll be a suitcase full of pot noodles coming with me! I do hope you can go.
I'm just excited to see a part of the world that wouldn't normally be my first choice of holiday. I know I have been extremely lucky but I think everyone on here saying that LHW suck aren't really taking the promotion in the way it was intended? It was just a chance to stay in a fantastic hotel that some of us have been lucky to win.
Good luck to everyone who hasn't heard yet and hope that everyone who has got a room has a super time!! :beer:0
