Congrats, what was your offer and did you get your 1st choice
I've been thinking, it would be much better if LHW gave the one-nighters to people in their own country, eg given my one to someone in Switzerland. They would be more likely to be taken up. I'm sure that one night at Gleneagles offered to someone in Switzerland would also be refused. They would, I think, also have a bigger chance of return visits by these people.0 -
ooo u will love gleneagles apetrie, that was my first choice too, can i ask what ur time stamp was and when u got ur email??? im clutching at straws now, but put in nov dates and my timestamp was 510. i live in hope!!
I had a timestamp of 47*, so youre not far behind!! I recd my conf on Friday though. I didnt specify dates though just the Gleneagles hotel and took pot luck for the dates and got Thurs and Fri in Nov. I hope you get some good news. I take it you have checked your junk email to check it hasnt gone in there by mistake.0 -
Thanks MSE
I got 2 nights at a hotel in Barcelonna. I am using it as a first step on a 5 week trip heading South. I have never been this lucky before.
Thanks again:j0 -
They Suk! Lhw Suk I Think! All The People That Registered Should Get A First Choice, I Got A Friend Who Found Out Who Got The Balioni London And She Didnt Even Follow The Whole Hype Or Register, I Think They Shud Give The Rest Of The People A Good Discount!0

I'm waiting for my 'I'm sorry you've been unsuccessful' email. I have to say that I think this promotion was great and I'm really pleased for all those that got rooms, however there seem to be a huge amount of people that can't take up what they have been offered (for various reasons, but it appears that this is often occurred as they specified any hotel and date when in fact they couldn't do this!).
Am I being sceptical in thinking that LHW won't reallocate these rooms at the promotional rate, rather by offering them thye have fulfilled their obligation under their T&C's or do you think that those who have turned down the promotional offer have reallocated???
It would certainly be interesting to know exactly how many promotional rooms are actually used
Just thinking out loud really. Again, enjoy your stay to all those who were lucky (Although I am a tad jealous and still hoping that Nelski, hollydays and I can squeeze into a room somewhere )
r.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -
I was always expecting to be unlucky, I never seem to get these type of deals!!!!!!!!!
I'm so unlucky that the last time on holiday when I got a timeshare scratchcard I only revealed three monkeys instead of four.
..............or was that lucky, maybe I am lucky after all. :j

I'm sorry but I don't think I can agree with your sentiment that the promotion has been great.
They made a mess of it first time round. Second time round they made a mess of it as you couldn't select a whole week in November on the form - that was the week I wanted and consequently it significantly slowed me down in submitting the form. Something not my fault at all.
Then reading this thread all the promotiom seems to have been about all along is giving out midweek odd nights here and there in obscure places.
I haven't seen anyone say they have had confirmation for a wekend in Paris, or Amsterdam or Prague (my 3 choices).
If they had done then great - they were quicker than me (probably didnt want the impossible to reserve wek in November?!) and they deserve it.
The promotion was a sham to get rid of hard to sell rooms at a non peak time of year.
Plain and simple.0 -
Well I haven't got a room either yet (sorry r.mac ) but as they have specified quite clearly that the e mails are going out until Thursday (a week after) then I still hold out a little bit of hope:D
Have to disagree with you Georggy. Ok they messed up the first time but they put their hands up and admitted it and then went on to find a better way of doing it.
As far as only obsure hotels go - I doubt all the lovely ones in London, New York, Barcelona or the Gleneagles would thank you for calling them obsure:rotfl: (check out flyertalk loads of people got the Alex in New York - even I have heard of that)
I chose Amsterdam too and agree that I have not seen anybody successful post about it but you never know that may still be sorted out (ever the optimist:D ) or it may be that not everyone who applied for this promotion posts on MSE eh;)
If the promotion was a sham then theres a lot of very happy people posting on here and on flyertalk with an amazing opportunity to visit a hotel that they could not normally afford. Personally I am pleased for those who did and good luck to the rest of us for another 24 hours:j This was not a sure thing it was a lottery so hard cheese if you didnt get it im afraid.0 -
I think the promotion went askew by offfering too many choices. A lot of people seem to have picked maybe 3 choices they really wanted and then ticked anytime/anywhere as a last resort, but when they were offered this choice were disappointed as they couldn't/wouldn't go anytime/anywhere, especially if only one night was being offered.
If everybody just had one choice then it would be a matter of first come first served for that location and people who WERE flexible could tick the anywhere/anytime option knowing that there was more likelihood of that being available but that they could/would avail themselves of it and there wouldn't be as much wastage of the offers as there obviously will be.0
