Where is the passion? What is the issue here?
A debit card is a powerful financial tool that makes day to day money management easier, Maestro is problematic as it not accepted everywhere like Visa is, it is a Mickey-mouse card hence the banks don’t want it because the customers don’t want it....majority vote, evidently.

I can use Maestro for hiring vehicles mind. Doesn't seem too "Mickey Mouse" to me.

Since when did any bank ask, or even care what it's customers actually wants?

So " no majority vote " by any bank customers, the banks of course will use whichever gives them the best return.

Visa is more expensive to operate, not saving them money that way, must want to serve their customers better no?

    Wrong I'm afraid.

The main/only reason why more banks are changing to Visa atm is simply that Visa is offering them a better deal than Mastercard - in the past Mastercard did so and before them it was Visa..

    @ PROLIANT:
    1) No I do not take part in any surveys, because I have never been asked to by any of my banks.

    2) Of course you will have inside information to the absolute costings of Visa/Maestro to the banks.

Mastercard debit has not been introduced in the UK yet.

    1) Well I obviously use different banks to you then.

    2) I don't trust everything I find with Google, nor what I hear from others that do.

I like to hear from the " horses mouth " before I accept anything as fact.

Ten out of ten but it is not Mastercard Debit, two different systems, if Mastercard debit was introduced and got rid of Meastro then that would put things in balance.
