you are just being plain rude; bottom line
  • And the more you think about it, the car dealer didn't count it....? just because there were five bundles? there could have been 15 notes in each bundle - I reckon the !!!!!! did count it, but you possibly weren't concentrating - I see a pattern emerging here.

No, the bottom line is no matter what anyone says to our OP, he would appear to be £1000 down, and having bought a car from someone who also didn't count the money (hoping he had just made £1000), I think we should advise the OP to check that there were wheels on the side of the car opposite him when he paid, he isn't doing too well on the observation front at the moment.

Whatever you do OP, don't buy any homing pigeons from Southall Market......

Have you ever seen a Scot not count money three times? and by your handle, I would suggest that you know the answer to this question.

In that case I'll take it as a compliment, thanks.

No, I was just referring to your natural care over matters pecuniary.

I wasn't referring to your penchant for eating boiled road kill, the fact that you wear funny clothes at any opportunity, or seem to have an aversion to the old "Life Buoy" - none of those things at all , just how careful you guys are with money, and how that is to be applauded.

Just a few points (if people can see them in between the sqabbles  )

    1) Make sure any dealing with the bank are with the manager, and not just the cashier - just to make sure it isn't the cashier trying his/her luck.

    2) Ask to see this video evidence they have, and preferably take a copy of it with you.

    3) If they say they're getting the police involved. That's fine. I really don't think there's a criminal offence here, as you didn't knowingly steal their money like they're making out. Don't let them bully you with threats of the police. Actually, if I were you I'd probably have a trip down to my local station and explain the situation, see what they say and where you stand.

    4) I assume you have a receipt that says you withdrew £4k?

    5) So the man you bought a car off trusted you enough to not count the money you gave him?

    6) On the documents of your new car, is there no address of the previous owner? (Ie Mr happy chappy who's probably down the pub now, celebrating his sale!)

As a side point - on the occasions that cash machines are loaded up wrong and they give customers £20 notes instead of tenners, do the customers have to return the money in those circumstances?
