I have given in and ordered 2 duvet covers from la redoute. Grhhh I could have done without spending the extra money but hey it will be cheaper then succumbing and putting the ch on. Here is hoping that my new flannelette bedding lasts a long time. It is no good having just one as it will take ages to dry0

Am I the only person who likes cold beds and cold sheets ? I've only just allowed DP to put the winter duvet on because I hate it too hot
However I am struggling to find sheets that fit over the top of the memory foam mattress. One day I might be more organised...........

If you're talking about fitted sheets you might have a problem! I bought some for our spare bed before Rosebys closed down, it was from their 250 thread count range. Lovely quality and unusually deep for fitted sheets, easily fits on the memory foam/pocket sprung mattress with room to spare. However, now Rosebys have gone I don't know where you could get anything similar. We've had plenty of fitted sheets before that struggled to fit even a shallower Dunlopillo mattress and it wasn't long before the corner seams tore open.
It might be an idea to stick to flat sheets for the bottom and go up a size, i.e. buy a king size for a double bed so there's plenty to tuck in.0 -
I suspected a long time ago that we would have a cold winter before it was even mentioned in the press and before the Credit Crunch was ever mentioned. To be OS I tried to find blankets, throws, candlewick bedspreads(whatever happened to those?) flannel sheets etc etc.. as you always used to find these ermm no offence after old people pass away in those places as their homes were cleared. Could I find any? No. Even ebay only gleaned one reasonably priced wool blanket. What Would Bill Buchanan Do?0

I for one couldn't even begin to consider going back to woollen blankets. My memories of winter nights is that no matter what you do, you can't get a blanket to tuck in around your neck and shoulders as a soft duvet will do. I shudder at just the thought of cold draughts sneaking their way in past my back, and if hubby should turn over, stretching the blankets even tighter .. !
Blankets were a swine to launder. They have to be done on cool, you should not wring or spin them, they are massively heavy when wet, and take forever to dry if put over the washing line unless the day is blisteringly hot and the line will take the strain!
I find this to be the case with fleece ones. I got a couple from Wilkos and they won't fit in my washing machine that wouldnt be able to wash them anyway as its lowest setting is 40 degrees. It went all manky and not soft n fleecy. I had to try to hand wash it in the bath !!!!!!.. :mad:What Would Bill Buchanan Do?0 -

As mentioned, a duvet or fleece under your sheet works wonders. You can get furry fleece fitted under sheets too.0

I think the thread count is usually the indication of quality, but some places don't seem to show it.0
