When I got married I recieved a flanellette duvet cover as a wedding gift. It was lovely and it lasted a good 10 years. I haven't been able to find anywhere that sells a kingsize flanellette duvet cover since. Anybody seen any?

I see that magentasue gave you a link to get flannelette duvet covers, but I just use a flannelette top and bottom sheet. It gives an extra layer as well, which makes it even cosier.

Well then in the winter I place a fleecy blanket (IKEA sell them cheap and so do Primark) between me and the quilt - and folks, does that feel soooo warm and cosy! :D

I have five such blankets which I change often, and fleece is reasonably easy to wash and dries fairly quickly.

I highly recommend fleecy blankets all over the place. :)
Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.
  • I got KS flannel duvet covers from john lewis yesterday

  • Some mail order catalogues have them. I have Freemans and have seen them in there, although they are probably going to be more expensive than Primark or Matalan.

I bought some yesterday, I got a flat double from Matalan for £8, (the £6 ones were smaller although still marked as double, so I got the bigger one in the hope there would be more overlap to keep it tucked in) but they had hardly any left any colour you wanted as long as it was white ;) and no fitted ones at all (Swindon branch)
and I popped over to Rosebys ( Swindon Greenbridge) and they had loads in, lots of different colours so I picked up a fitted double for £10. They also had sheetsets in, for I think, £20 and pillow cases although I didnt bother with those. HTH

So with both of those, my quilt , throw and possibly a blanket I should be very toasty this winter! I only have the one quilt which is light enough for summer (if we ever get one) but still perfectly good for winter once its been layered:rotfl:

  • I have a fleece blanket under my bottom sheet and a fleece blanket over the top of my summer weight (4.5 tog) duvet and even in the depth of Winter that has been enough.
I feel the cold too as I don't have blood just "chip shop vinegar in my veins"...something my old boss used to say:confused:

That said I have the softest most cuddly fleece blanket I have ever bought ( and trust me I have loads, not to mention fleece dressing gowns and fleece cardi's and I would wear fleece knickers in Winter if they made 'em:D )

The supersoft blanket I got from QVC( I think they still have them,) it was about £18-20 ish for a (big)single and they come in three or four sizes, it did fluff slightly until I washed it and tumbled it on low, but I wouldn't swop it for the world, it's like cuddling a baby lamb, all warm and soft;) :D
  • the JL flannet duvet covers came today. don`t bother getting them, they are just a coarse cotton, not brushed just a cotton that I wouldn`t buy anyway. They are going back asap
  • I found these sets for £10.95 for a single sheets set (1 fitted sheet, 1 flat and pillowcase)

I have a spare duvet under my bottom sheet, it makes the bed nice and squishy and keeps us extra warm too.
