What's happened to warm bedding?

When I was young, I remember snuggling up in a warm cosy bed, there was no electric blankets and no central heating.... we had these flannelette type sheets on our beds, they were almost fluffy, and sooo cosy. Any bedding I can find these days are all cold, we're climbing into a cold bed every night, not exactly very inviting!! Anyone know where I can buy this 'old style' bedding?

:j I got some of these fluffy sheets last week in Matalan, £5 for a single, I did not get any doubles this time as mine are still going strong from last year, they also did pillow cases in the same material two for £3, they really do make it warm and snuggley when you get into bed.

  • Hello scottishgal

Have a look at the Getting Reading for Winter thread on MS Old Style - last two or three pages. There's info there on flanelette sheets. HTH

  • I got a couple of double flanette sheets for Primark last winter. I think they were £8ish each and they are very cosy.

  • Thank you for the info, I'll check out that thread. I live on a Scottish island, so I don't have Primark or Matalan within many miles, so it'll have to be online as most places will deliver... I'll check out John Lewis, thanks!

  • QVC Northern Nights do excellent flannette sheets, duvets etc but not cheap I'm sorry to say!
  • Oh goodness, I've found napguard on the Linen store site, mil never stops raving about these sheets and tries to pass 60 odd year old sheets onto me claiming they're as good as new as they're 'napguard' but they don't make them any more, won't she be excited :rotfl: !!!

I got my flannel sheets from QVC. Not cheap but they'll last at least 10 years, so a fiver a year, I can't complain.
