BT Broadband £5/month

I seem to be stuck with BT bband because cheaper deals with other providers involve them providing landline but to get a landline 'installed' i.e. change name of acccount-holder from previous owner of house, I had to go BT and sign up for 12 months so cannot change provider. Their confusing/inefficient paperwork involves separate accounts and DD for phone and bb and the 7p setup charge for daytime calls plus 4.5p for first fraction of minute makes life very expensive. Have I misunderstood somthing?0

Not sure if I am in the correct place but, need some help re: packages/bundles. I am a new retired pensioner!!! It's hell financially. I am with Virgin, phone, broadband [ 2mb ] TV with on demand [ that's good ] and now have to pay for unlimited calls. They were part of the package before , FREE!! My monthly cost WAS £20 but, now it is £27.95p. Yes, I do have a choice re: the phone call cost. Does anyone know of a cheaper option available please. Would appreciate any help given.

BT still offering £9.49 a month, so I signed up for another 12 months (Broadband Option 1).0

shazziere. call 0800800030 and say you were offered option 1 for £9.49 and a free wireless router in return for a new 12 month contract. the advisor will do the rest0

My 12 months on Option 3 broadband have expired, so I called BT asking for MAC to try and get a deal out of them.
They have offered me the standard retention deal listed above. It's £19.99 for Option 3 for another 12 months and the new black homehub and phone included for free.
Shall I call back to confirm the deal or call their bluff and request the MAC and await a call from the retentions team???0

When you call for a mac you are are speaking to the retentions team.
The only other offer for option 3 broadband is 18 month contract with 6 months free and then £22.99 for remaining 12 months. Average over the 18 month is £15.33 a month.0

I too contacted BT for my MAC Code, was expecting problems, due to other peoples comments, over accessing this info, but No, the BT lady states, we want to keep you as a customer, we can reduce your Options I Broadband from £15.99, p/month to £9.49 p/month, 12 month contract.
The O2 deal I was interested in, was £7.50 p/month to existing O2 mobile phone customers, but you had to top up £10 p/month to access the Broadband deal.
Obviously the BT deal is slightly cheaper, also I was out of contract with BT, which was easier for me.
You can ask for your MAC Code at any time, but remember, dont state youu intend to change provider right then and there, your B/Band provider may terminate your connection.
Its a competitive market out there, if you dont ask, you dont get.0

Anyone know if I may get offered these deals if I call them now, I am just a couple of months away from the end of my contract and have been getting calls from them offering a mighty £2 off option 2.0

Beancounter. Option 2 is £15.99 if you renew on a 12 month deal. But do you use all the extras of option 2?
If you use less than 10 gig a month and dont have all the norton security then change to option 1 for £9.49 (you have to be in an llu area though so check sam knows site)
If you use the norton and less than 10 gig then take option 1 with net protect this is £9.49 with £3.50 for norton = £12.99 a month0

I too would like to know about the LLU area thing. I thought this only applied for other companies installing equipment in BT exchanges hence the reason they can offer their services cheaper.
I suspect I could actually come down from option 2 to option 1 as before the usage limits were increased I only went over the old 8gb limit on option 2 on 2 occasions. I don't really use any of the extras. I have tried Norton twice and it messed up my PC on both occasions. I just want to keep BT as I have BT Vision and like the service.0
