it is frustrating speaking to lots of people but remember the advisor is there to help and its the first time they have spoken to you so start a fresh and dont blame them for all your hold ups ( i know frustrating) but you will get what you want in the end. however there is no option 3 broadband at £12.99 so your lookin at a one off bill credit to cover the extra charges

its a unique number that identifies the Broadband connection from your exchange. Think it stands for "Migragtion Access Code". Its needed when you swap ISPs so they know who they are delivering there broadband to.

I was meant to be having Virgin Media install their £4.50 broadband tomorrow. I am currently with BT and pay £14.99. After reading this thread I got straight on the phone and managed to get BT for £5 pm for 12 months. I then got cut off from their end and when I got back through to the call centre I was offered £4.50 and a new black hub. They're also going to babysit on Saturday for me and I expect a Christmas card.

Well I went with Virgin Media in the end as the speed was over four times faster even though the cost was meant to be the same.

4 weeks later of loving it I get a bill from my old friend BT! They decided to set me up for another 12 months contract at £9.49 a month 1 week after I stopped with them. Why? And so much for the £4.50 pm. I even phoned on the day that I stopped with them to get a confirmation that my life with them was over. Why can they not let me go? I'm not a good looking chap any more. Just let go BT.

I have now been on the phone for [STRIKE]an hour[/STRIKE] 75 minutes trying to get them to sort it out. They cut me off twice and passed me around from pillar to post. Anyway they have now said their goodbyes and hopefully we can now just get on with our separate lives. Apart. Alone. But quite glad...

£5.00 pound offer ended as ofcom only allow BT to cut broadband prices if exchange is LLU with 4 or more LLU providers..STILL THE £9.49 IS AVAILABLE AND OP2 AT £15.99 AND OPT 3 19.99

Googled to find about my exchange. This website
    http://www.samknows.com/broadband/
    says re. my exchange...

LLU operator presence - 7 companies listed

    Ofcom Classification Market 3
Four or more 'principal' operators provide broadband services at this exchange. Service in this area has been deregulated!

Does this mean I'm in with a chance of the £5 per month deal? Am at end of 12-month contract with BT. Was on Option 1 £12.99 per month.

Am also on "Unlimited Anytime Plan" for ordinary landline phone, costing £17.70 per month inc VAT, without a 12-month contract. Am wondering if I can get this cheaper?
  • Just got Virgin broadband 8 meg including free evening and weekend telephone calls @ £10 per month plus BT line rental. Oh and £18 good will gesture to boot.

    I was previously on virgin @ £18 per month plus BT option 2 @ ~= £20 per mo.

hi syko29793.im on option 1 out of contract.want to get over to wireless instead of my adsl one.Whats the best prices/deal i should hold out for?
  • Just a quick follow up on my previous posts for anyone interested. I never received any written confirmation from BT of my "special offer" for Option 3 so had to wait for my next bill to come in. Once I'd deciphered it, it emerges that I did get the deal originally offered, i.e. Option 3 for 12 months @ 22.99 with a £89.88 rebate which equates to £15.50 a month - not bad for unlimited service. So, a good result in the end but not without a bit of hassle getting there.
