Alice still has a two hour nap (approx 12.30-14.30) and about twelve hours overnight. I have a friend who said a few months ago that her 2 1/2 year old had just gone down to one nap a day. It depends on the child and on what you choose to do.Any question, comment or opinion is not intended to be criticism of anyone else.2 Samuel 12:23 Romans 8:28 Psalm 30:5

Poppy wakes at 7:20am (ish!) has 1.5hrs around 10am and another 1.5hrs around 1:30pm. Then its in bed by 6:45pm.
Anyone else find that the napping times go so much quicker than when they are awake?!

Samantha usually goes down for a nap at about 11am. It usually lasts for 1.5h, but she obviously went into a deep one the other day and I had 3.5h (well could have been longer, but I had to wake her). Her night time sleeping hasn't been the greatest, and with me going back to work (and working till midnight / 1am) I am finding it hard.
Samantha hasn't slept more than once a day for at least 5 months now.
Only sugguestion is to really wear him out. We do groups etc in the morning, and I play her hard (or walk her around constantly dragging some caterpillar type thing). Then she usually falls asleep in the buggie walking home. HTHs0 -
Re: naps, Alex had two naps a day until about a month ago (he's 14 months now), but now has just one nap, usually a couple of hours, at lunchtime (that's why I'm here! :rotfl: )
DS1 had a nap until about 2 1/2 so I'm counting on this one doing the same.
I'm a believer in the "the more a baby sleeps, the more a baby sleeps" theory - i.e. they have to be rested in order to sleep well at night. Alex sleeps 12 hours at night.0 -
Yep another who believes naps help the night time sleeping. Izzy was dreadful at night until I forced her into a strict daytime nap regime of 2 hours at lunchtime. Now she is 24 months she still has a 2 hour nap most days although I do skip it if I've got plans for the day, it doesn't seem to affect her at night time if it's only missed occasionally.0

From about a year old, Charlotte goes down for an afternoon nap from around 1pm-4pm. Then she's in bed between 7.30pm-8pm and sleeps through till 7-7.30am the next morning.
James used to love his afternoon naps so much, he was still having them just before he started school full time, and I was worrying how he would cope with no nap! He managed fine although his teacher said he did drop off a few times when they were having a story on the carpet :rotfl:Here I go again on my own....0 -
PP maybe you could tell tsstss7 how you "forced" Izzy to take that nap.
I think with Molly I just continued to put her in the buggy or cot at roughly the same time everyday or when I saw her rubbing her eyes.
She's 8.5 months now and has a nap around 10am I limit it to 45 mins and wake her if she hasn't already woken, sometimes she's done after half hour. Then at lunch time she'll have anywhere between 1.5-2 hours. I try to make sure she's up by 3.30pm so she's still tired by lunchtime. Now she's moving more she's starting to tire herslef out by standing up and tentatively cruising around.
I'm having to limit Jack's lunchtime nap to 1.5 hours and then 1 hour, as even though he's tired at bedtime, not tired enough to go to sleep and mucking around instead. I'm thinking of changing his bedtime to 7.30 from 7, which will be a pain for me, as I NEED my kids to be upstairs by 7. Especially as I do it on my own.
Oh well. Good luck with the naps tsstss7, I do think if mine don't get a good day nap, they are overtired in the night to sleep fully. But each child is different and you say he does sleep.0 -

This would be good if you have a particular technique for reluctant sleepers...my boy does get tired in the day but if I try to put him into his cot you'd think i was conducting some sort of torture by the noise he makes - however at night he goes down fine even if he does have a little cry first. Similarly when he gets taken out in his pushchair around what should be his nap time he just wakes right up again....the only time he falls asleep in his pushchair is if I'm out for over 2 hrs and then he''ll wake up as soon as we get home!

Thanks Bailey ...I suppose I should be grateful I get the 12 hrs at night really but it really is making life hard not to have those few hours in the day to do the housework etc It means I have to do it all after he goes to bed and that clashes often with things I need to do with ds1(homework - late tea etc).MSE PARENT CLUB MEMBER.ds1 nov 1997ds2 nov 2007:jFirst DDFirst DD born in june:beer:.0
