  • suppose I should be grateful I get the 12 hrs at night really but it really is making life hard not to have those few hours in the day to do the housework etc It means I have to do it all after he goes to bed and that clashes often with things I need to do with ds1(homework - late tea etc). [quote/]

i totally understand, my evenings are never ever free, its from the moment i wake up to the moment i go to bed. I am hoping it will be easier in a few years.

PP maybe you could tell tsstss7 how you "forced" Izzy to take that nap.
Lol, well as has been customary with Izzy with anything involving bedtime, it was a case of putting her in her cot when lunch was over and trying to ignore the screaming!! It could go on a very long time, even an hour or so (which was pretty annoying at nap time given that she would lose half a nap) but she got the message pretty quickly. Now she goes for a nap without a murmur. Can't say the same for bedtime proper, she still screeches from time to time. But that's Isabel for you.

I didn't actually get into this habit until 8 or 9 months ago, up til then it had been a haphazard 'put her down when she looks tired' job. But the minute we got into a proper routine, all our sleeping issues improved immensely.

Sounds like our house. If I only had DS1 I would imagine I was the best parent ever as he's pretty much perfect and has never been any trouble in his life (so far) and he's 14. Luckily, to stop my head swelling too much I have DD and Tom. DD is pretty good now but she was a terror until she was two and a half. I'm hoping Tom will get better as he gets older.

I wish I could put Tom down and let him scream (We did it with DD when she was about 9 months). Every time he cries properly he ends up being sick everywhere :(

I'll never complain again! Wow you guys have some great stories. I let Joseph dictate nap and sleep times, there's some routine but never rigid. I was put off by the word 'routine' when friends of ours 'had' to be home by 6.30pm ever since their boy was born. I preferred to let Joseph get used to being out and about and able to fit in to any outings. Not that we have any sort of life , but occasionally it's nice for him to be awake when we're visiting grandparents.

I was just worried that he may stop napping soon, but it seems we have ages yet. Phew. :T

  • Hi everyone I'm looking to buy a friend who is expecting her second a crib..a few of her girlfriends have clubbed together to get her this..we have a budget of £80 max......would like wood not white wash,

We have looked at one in Mothercare that will take us slightly over budget

and one a swinging crib in Toys r us. The £59.99 one

Has anyone got experience of these? Or can they recommend one? She thinks she wants a swinging one but what are the gliding ones like?
  • CG- just voted - lovely picture:j

Can I ask how long you all used the same bottles for? I am going to get the next size teat and was wondering if I ought to replace the bottles aswell... I use the TT closer to nature and have had the same ones for about 6 months.

Just visited our local K shoes shop and bought some lovely first pram shoes in the sale for £5 - reduced from £20 so very MSE!
