  • You sound really upbeat feelie - good for you.

Why don't you give the number in Krystals sig a ring and have a chat?

I don't think that the size of your nipples in comparison to his mouth matters but I will let someone more experienced answer that.

I think I might read up about co-sleeping, do you know of any good sources of info so I can think about it?

Why do they say fat people shouldn't do it?
    .
I think it is to do with the increased likelihood of sleep apnea in the parent but I might have just made that up!
here is an article about co sleeping safely http://www.babycentre.co.uk/baby/sleep/cosleepingsafely/

Edit - I actually had trouble finding anything about it but came accross this
Do not co sleep if you are overweight. Overweight can cause sleep apnea in the mother.

Well done Feelie on bathing babs on your own, that is a big step..... dh still won't bath Kai as he is worried about him slipping away, or dropping him when he gets him out the bath.

Weezl - I dress Kai every day, have done since he was about 2-3wks old. I see it as a good indicator to him that he is going to bed, with the different feel of the clothes! I also find it far easier to whip off a pair of little pants than faff around with all those poppers on sleepsuits.
Another major benefit of a Bumbo is that it helps to prevent flat head syndrome, as babies spend so much of their days and nights lying or leaning on their backs it is quite common and a Bumbo is a good way (aswell as tummy time) to allow them some time not resting on their heads.

Caz - forgot to say, hope Megan gets better soon, and well done on getting your money that was owed to you:) enjoy it....

MFD - Good on Benjamin, he is going to be tall though isn't he:) I am not sure how tall Kai is, but he is mostly out of his 0-3mth clothes (some still fit) and starting to wear all the 3-6mth ones....which is a shame because he had some really lovely 0-3 ones that I am going to miss:(

I think Kai is going through a growth spurt, he has slept so long through the day both yesterday and today, and has been draining his 6oz bottles! He actually drank 7.5oz on his second feed today!

Well I really need to pluck up the courage to phone my work colleague. I am about to ask her if her daughter (Jenny) can babysit for us on Saturday, we are off to MEN Arena to watch Jean Michel Jarre in concert, and have no babysitter........My mum can't/won't swop her shift, we aren't talking with FIL and MIL isn't able to as she can't walk well and uses a stick, so would be unable to carry Kai about to change him, feed him and definitely unable take him up to bed. We have to leave the house at 4.30pm!!!
Jenny is 18 and has worked in a nursery, in the baby room, since leaving school. While also attending college one day a week to study for her NVQ....She will be fine, Won't she????????????? I have met her a few times as she has come in to speak with her mum, and she once joined us on a pub lunch.

  • Mel, if you feel that Kai is ready to be left with someone then she sounds as qualified as anyone. i would ask her to pop round for an hour one day beforehand to check though.

She sound great Mel - can I have her number? ;)
We used to have a girl who worked at DD1's nursery - similar situation, she was a trainee and attending college - she was glad of the extra money, and a bit of extra experience to put on her cv! She's all grown up with a baby of her own now so we need to find a new babysitter.

I'd offer to babysit for you - but i'm supposed to be going out Saturday too, to a wedding - just the evening bit. Mums coming here to babysit, she won't have them overnight til Violet sleeps through!
Its not that i'm not desperate to get out and do something with OH that doesn't involve children - i'm just not sure I can be bothered with the faffing that going out involves!

Ooh - and i've ordered my Bumbo! I was watching loads on Ebay and it seems the price depends on the colour! Red being the most expensive going for up to £30, followed by pink/blue/lilac all going for around £20. I got a lemon/yellow one, for £8.50! :j I'm sure Violet doesn't mind what colour it is!

weezl, i think i'm going to ebay the stuff maybe in october, i dont think theres any point doing it any earlier cos nobody will be looking for wintery stuff then. and anytime i leave the house is a special occasion cos its so darned hard to get me and seth and everything ready ;) so he even gets poshed up for tesco, bless him! its ok though as getting dressed and undressed is the funniest thing ever, apparantly!
he only has one night feed now :j then wakes around 5 or 6 at which point we move him between us for a while which gives us a hour or two extra kip some mornings!

reading some of your posts about your OH's scares me - mine is so hands on that its actually me that cant get him to bed in the evening! i honestly dont think i could cope if it wasnt for him. we bath seth together in the evening, then OH dries and PJ's him and gives him his last feed and puts him down. obviously i am capable of all of the above :rotfl: but he always wakes when i move him!

that link is crazy, 13 days to prepare for twins  i'd need a lifetime, one is hard enough!!

i've been putting a teaspoon of gripe water in his bottles (my nans advice - she used to do it with me apparantly) the past few days to see if they make any difference, i wouldnt say he has colic but he has seemed very uncomfortable. he is burping easier after feeds and his poops are more frequent and slightly more watery whereas they have been quite thick paste up til now. he does seem less uncomfortable so i'm going to carry on i think.

i hope elle and rhys are both doing ok xx

MFD, what a whopper benjamin is!!

why cant they have honey under 1 year old?

It is a bit scary because we will be so far away on her first time sitting for us......well if she can/will anyway! ( I still haven't phoned:o)

I am sure Violet won't care about the colour of her Bumbo:)

God I hope Kai sleeps tonight, he has slept loooooaaaaaads today:confused:

I will try and get her to pop round MFD, but with her working full time, and it being only two days away....I am not sure if she will manage to. I would mainly want the older two to meet her as it will be more strange for them than for Kai.

Possibly, I very, very rarely buy myself anything! I bought myself a pair of £20 jeans and felt guilty, yet went out a few days ago and spent nearly £50 on toys for Kai.
