My LO didn't like the bumbo to start with but as I'd paid £30 for it we were going to get some use out of it!! After a while he began to enjoy in there. We used to sit him on the table whilst we were eating so that he could see what we were doing. Also, I weaned him at 6 months but as he wasn't able to sit up he kept sliding down in his highchair seat. So ended up weaning him in his bumbo.
I agree, up til about 4 months I just found it easier to dress him in babygrows. He was born in Oct so if we were going out I'd just put a pramsuit on him so noone could see what he had on underneath anyway. Also, he doesn't like being dressed so babygrows were fab as so quick to put on and no need to go over his head.
Bailey, you mentioned prunes a few weeks back and I've been mixing them in his baby rice. He loves it and has sorted out his constipation. Thanksx.
We tried infacol, gripe water and coleif. I cant say any of them made a big difference to us.
Caz, sounds as if you need a hug. Hope you get a little bit of a rest soon. I cant imagine how on earth you manage with 5 at the best of times let alone if one of them's ill.
Is there any news on Elle and Rhys on the preg board yet? Hop they're ok.0 -
Thanks for asking Lwcus,
Elle is doing great, Rhys is less great, improving slowly, the poor thing took 25mins to resus after he was whipped out of his cosy womb. He's having regular brain scans to check for any damage - so far he's only had one which was a good result.
Today they are going to reduce some of his meds to see how he copes and then there will be a discussion this afternoon as to what next.
Weelz - I always dressed Chris in dungarees from about a week oldI just think they are the cutest things ever

went shopping and bought charlie new pjs and trainers as nothing is fitting him? he is a size 5 trainers and 18-24months in pjs!! he is only 16 months!
I have bought a lot of summer dresses for erin from ebay the past few weeks but made everyone buy babygrows and sleepsuits in bigger sizes so that i would get the use of them! my mum bought newborn clothes as we had nothing that would fit her. We always have clothes on her during the day and dont find it any different from her PJs to change etc! also you can just change the top rather than the whole thing if they are sick. What's for you won't go past you0 -
We tend to do proper clothes if we're going out and babygtows if not. I like the dungarees with the poppers underneath so you don't have to take the whole thing off to do a nappy change. My pet peeve with baby clothes is the pockets. What is she meant to keep in them? DH keeps suggesting she looks after my keys seeing as none of my clothes have any.
I think I might have to get some more bibs that fasten with poppers or that you have to tie. The velcro ones are far easy to take off. Strawberries (well, half of one with baby rice) for lunch has made a quick outfit change necessary!Isabella Molly born 14th January 2009

Thanks for the link feelie am going to print it off so i can explain to doc. hows things going? x
I've got a bad cold, and managed to pass it on to the babyWe aren't sleeping well because of it, so I was very naughty and he slept in my bed with me last night. Really didn't want to do that, too dangerous (fat people can't co-sleep, can they?) but we needed sleep.
Other than that, just plodding along. Managed yesterdays growth spurt, even kept up with him, but it take take 7 hours of expressing! Hopefully today won't be as demanding.
Hope sleep makes you feel better, sorry you are sad.
Re: Clothes. Baby wears babygrows, and will wear baby grows till he is at least 12 months! He doesn't have any 'proper' clothes. I only put him in 'New Baby' size last week, and he has had another growth spurt and his feet are right at the bottom. Shall venture to Baby Clinic on Tuesday to see just how much he has grown. I'm amazed at my super creamy milk!Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0 -

Does she have a rash? First time my Dad was left alone with me as a baby, he gave me strawberries and I came out in a rash. Very common, some suggest avoiding strawberries till baby is 12 months. Next time he was alone with me, he gave me cherries, expecting me to spit the stones out. Unsuprisingly, at 4 months old, I didn't know how to do that, and swallowed them all.Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0 -
Feelie - is your dad safe?
you poor lil thing
There is some thought that the whole strawberry allergy thing isn't as common as some beleive it to be, we had a little discussion about it a few months back.
I'm so dizzy that I never even considered the possibility of allergies and just gave Chris a rice cake with peanut butter on it one daythankfully he loves it as much as I do and we've not had any problems other than a bit of sensitivity to acidic things when they're dribbled down his chin

Sami, we did -exactly- the same thing with a peanut butter rice cake. Seemed fine
but now we're afraid to do it again once we realised.

She seems to be fine with Strawberries (had some yesterday too, so I would think we would know by now if not ok!)
My cousin is allergic to peanuts, DH's mum to some other kind of nut, and DH and his dad don't react well to tomatoes or peppers (they can eat them, but they both have stomach problems which are made worse by some chemical which is in toms and peppers, and by spicy food.)
I'm going to avoid nuts for as long as we can get away with it, and try a small quantity of peppers/toms later on when she is more used to eating. Tonight I'm going to cook a batch of potato and carrot to mash up and then I can leave some out for tomorrow and freeze the rest. I'm too impatient for this weaning thing. I keep thinking of more things to try, but seeing as I can only introduce one new thing at a time I've got meals planned out for weeks in my head! I want to give her a little taste of everything now and find out her favouites!Isabella Molly born 14th January 2009
