Morning All:)
Elijah, is a cutie and I like the name too.
nad - I hope you have a better day today, it is horrible when nothing you do (or don't do) settles them isn't it....but today is a new day:p
Well done Christopher :j
Luca was completely potty trained by the time Jaden came along (so he was 23mths) but unfortunately as soon as Jaden was born he refused to use the potty/toilet at all....thankfully it didn't last long. I think he had gotten used to feeling clean and dry, which won over 'being like baby'......
Me and dh went out last night, I mananged to get my sister to babysit for 3hrs, we were meant to have been going to Liverpool for a uni end of year meet for with a load of people off dh course. But as we could only get the 3hr slot and it takes about an hour travelling time, we decided it wasn't worth it. We decided to go to a local(ish) pub and have dinner instead...it was lovely, although I must admit to having palpitaions at one point and had to force myself to not worry the whole time!!!!! I sorted all the kids before we went and I had even fed Kai and put him to bed before we went out, so she only had the older two to send to bed.
It was kind of a test run (for me) as we are going to a concert on 23rd May (if I can get a babysitter:rolleyes:) and have to catch the coach at 4.55pm so I am going to have to leave someone to do the whole bedtime routine with all three of them....... Then on the 7th June we are at another concert, but an all day one and leave at midday!!!!! I really wish I hadn't booked them now:o
Kai had a bit of a poorly belly yesterday he barely drank 3oz at each feed, I was really convinced he was going to wake up in the middle of the night but he slept till 6.45:D He drank his first bottle lovely today, and I am going to give him some water in a while to try and help things along;)

Becles would you like to swap for a bit? Chris can often be heard saying "No Mummy! Stop singing!" :rotfl: he thinks he's Simon Cowell
at least I know its not just my bad singing coz my sis has a lovely voice and he did the same to her today
Send him round! Charlotte loves singing. I get pestered all day "sing wheels on bus", "sing heads and shoulders", "sing alley alley oh" and so on.
Then she makes her own songs up. Like if I'm cooking she sings things like "Mammy's pans, Mammy's pans....." "Mammy chopping onion, Mammy chopping pepper....." "Mammy stirring pans, Mammy stirring pans....." Her ham, cheese and butter song is still her favourite thoughHere I go again on my own....0 -

Izzy loves being sung to - her favourite is "Gulumph went the little green frog". She will normally stop crying if I sing that to her. So I am subsequently getting really fed up of singing it. (Not as fast as DH is getting fed up of listening to it though - and he is out all day, so misses most of the renditions!) She also loves the wheels on the bus, row row row your boat (but you have to be rowing with her), grand old duke of york (with all the lifting her up and down - keep fit for mummies!) and heads shoulders (with me helping her to do the actions!).
I need to get another kids songs cd from the library and expand my repertoir a bit, I'm getting bored with doing the same songs all the time!
I hope all these grumpy babies are feeling more cheerful today (Daddy being home normally helps for us!). Izzy was really grumpy this morning, but much brighter now she's had a nap. She was thrashing around all night - she was asleep, but kept waking us up banging her feet on her matress and moaning. Then she had a big fart and was fine! Wind and teething are not a great combination poor girl.
Oh, and i got a text from my cousin last night - her LO has chicken pox. We saw them last weekend, but the incubation time is quite long, so I'll be checking her for spots for the next week like all paranoid mummies!.Isabella Molly born 14th January 2009

Elijah loves touchy-feely books like "That's Not My...", and with great focus he touches each part of the page carefully, then when we start the process for him he turns the page vigorously to get to the next one! He is not so big on singing though, except at bedtime when we have two bedtime songs we sing every time so that his eyes start closing
I really feel for nadnad, and for lwcus; we were lucky that during the first few months after the birth I had a very understanding and flexible boss, and was able to come home early or just work from home for the day several times when it was all getting too much for my OH. That flexibility changed a bit at the end of the year when cuts forced me to change jobs, but OH was pretty much back in control by then so it worked out well.
On breastfeeding, there was a struggle for the first 6 weeks, but OH persevered determinedly and saw a BF counsellor etc, and eventually baby got the hang of it... took him long enough
lwcus, Elijah has reflux too. Kicked in around 2 months, and for ages he was throwing up 6-10 times a day, didn't put on any weight at all between 3-5 months, and was waking every 2-3 hours. We used Infant Gaviscon (a pain when BF, as mixing powders up then squirting them down required luring him into accepting the dodgy taste several times a day), then a series of more stuff got prescribed.
Eventually we got a referral to a paediatrician just a few weeks ago, he is now on new meds and he does seem in much less discomfort (and less vomiting _party_ ) the last couple months - how much due to meds and how much due to just his tummy developing I don't know. He's still well under the 2nd percentile line on weight though (50th on height, and was above 50th on weight for the first 12 weeks, so he had a big plunge).
He does sleep through from 7.30ish to 3-4am now though, which is awesome especially compared to the first 6 months! He never had blistering or any of that, but we did see tears well up as he tried to swallow bile back down again on a daily basisI guess the most reassuring thing about it all is, it goes away by itself as they get older. Just have to wait it out
Thankfully never any major side-effects from the meds.
He loooves food, mostly BLW but in our panic about his weight we spoon purees and such into him too, but he is a real face-stuffer... just added breakfast to his repertoire (between 7.15/7.30 before I go to work, while mummy sleeps another few mins... it's lucky I need less sleep than OH!) and I swear most of his meals now are equivalent to a grown-up meal - e.g. a banana, 1/2 a piece of toast with butter, 3 chunks of roasted sweet potato and a little sliver of roast pork, 2 fingers of cheese, and a small bowl of yogurt with apple+prune puree... finally putting on weight!
Anyway, time to strap him to my chest and head out to the farmer's market, need supplies for the bottomless pit as well as a birthday picnic this afternoon... nice rambling to you, ladiesbusy daddy of Elijah, born Aug 5th 080 -

Izzy could come sing with Tom and I; they're all his favourite songs too! He loves music but he's not quite so keen on books which was a bit of a shocker as DS and DD loved them. He brings them to me quite often but he really just likes to turn the pages.0 -

Thanks Bruno-which med is Elijah taking?
My LO has silent reflux, it started out as normal reflux which wasn't too bad just a bit of a nuicence to change his clothes several times a day. It then progressed on to silent where they keep their food down but just acid comes up. It was diagnosed when I took him in and his mouth was full of ulcers from the acid. He used to scream all day and night and not feed as he was in too much pain. Anyway, we tried the gaviscon first which only took the edge off slightly. Then we were prescribed ranitadine but had to be on the maximum dose for it to be effective and after a few weeks it wasn't enough for him. He's now on the highest dose of omeprazole which has improved his reflux but unfortunately as he is on such a high dose he's having side effects which allows him to sleep in short bouts only. The paediatrician has said its the worst case he's seen in a breast fed baby in years and therefore he's unlikely to grow out of it until he's at least 18 months (which is a whole year away!!).
I'll have to go back to work in 2 months and I dont know if I'll be able to do it if he's stil waking up every hour or so.
Ontop of all this my nan has had a stroke last week, MIL has been diagnosed with ovarian cancer and my OH has received at risk of redundancy notice.
Sorry for being so down.:o
Thanks for the swing thread MFD-i'll have a look at it. Bo you mind me asking how much you paid for yours off e bay? x
Well done Christopher on weeing in his potty!:j
Aldi- they'll have babyDan saftey starter pack there from tomorrow onwards £7.99.0 -
Awww lcus that is truly miserable
way worse than our situation has been, plus all those combined other RL circs
He is also on high end dosage of omeprazole actually, but no signs of side effects which is lucky. We were on ranitidine for ages, may have helped slightly but paediatrician was unimpressed with the results, and switched him to omeprazole and also domperidone. Prior to that a GP had tried to prescribe Maxolon Paediatric (metoclopramide) but we were too afraid of the side effects and internet stories so we turned it down.
Aside from that, the normal elevating the head of the cot, trying to give him vertical time as much as poss after feeds, and so on. I guess we're just luckier than you
We were pretty stressed when he was around 2-3 months old, reflux had kicked in and there was no sleep for anyone, and I then got put consultation (redundancy after 3 months). Luckily I was able to move jobs internally and not even change the desk I was sitting at, so was comparatively easy in the end, but for a few weeks ugh!0
