When Charlotte was younger, she liked me singing A Windmill in Old Amsterdam when she was tired or upset.

She liked Fedde le Grande when I was pregnant. If you put him on loud she used to kick like mad :D Then when she was a little baby in her bouncy chair, she liked kicking her legs to Destination Unknown. Hubby used to put that on quite often for her. I'm sure he was just being nice to the baby and it was nothing to do with scantily clad ladies in the video

She also went through a Rhianna phase at 9 months old:

You are not being a pain at all. We bought the hammock instead of a moses basket and we bought an extra frame for the bedroom (currently unused).

When Benjamin was tiny he didn't like the hammock much so we have been using the carrycot from his pram for him to sleep in at night. He still settles very well in there so we are still using that at night but we won't be for long because he will outgrow it soon enough.

The hammock is in the living room and I put him down in it when he is sleepy but not necessarily fully asleep. I then sit on the floor in front of it and gently bounce him from below (if he can see me he won't close his eyes!!) and talk to him...it can take anything from two or three minutes to maybe ten or even twenty but I used to spend that time rocking or doing the 'try to remove my nipple' dance!

When he stirs and begins to cry I just bounce him lightly and shush him and he goes back to sleep...sometimes he bounces himself and sends himself back off before I get to him :D

Are you close to me (West Mids)? You could come and try it.

Thanks so much, that's so kind but we live in S Wales. Wouldn't want to subject you to his screams anyway!! I'll look more into it tomorrow and chat to OH about it. Thanks.x

Does anyone else find that pampers nappies are more smelly than huggies? Since I bought pampers Benjamin seems to constantly smell of wee :o

I found that they smelt of chemicals resulting in me buying chlorine free nappies from sainsbury's. Does anyone know when they've got the 1/3 off nappies offer on next? I've also tried Moltex which smell less of chemicals.
  • Don't hesitate to ask any more questions lwcus - if you ask on the thread that I pointed you to before then the lady with the reflux baby will prob reply too.

Don't know about the nappies, sorry.

Becles - that video is so cute!!

its a similar style to the one I've got for bump. I did discover that Christopher was quite a fan of using it in the piggy back position before my bump got too big, are you gonna try it on both bubbas?

Me?! :rotfl:. So far its been on DH, my sister and my cousin! ;).

We're just going to use it for Jamie although it is suitable for toddlers. I think with all the extra weight I'm already carrying Poppy would take me over the edge! :D.

well its still early but little man has been in good form this am. he's down for a nap now. he's started dancing every time he hears music now and its really funny - he sticks his wee bum out and wiggles.

am gonna go get organised and ring my MIL see if she'll mind Oz for an hour today - so i can go to the relative sanctuary of tesco and do some shopping!

Glad today is a brighter day, Nad.

Oh I get that too. Everytime I think I'll just have a few minutes sit down in the chair, she climbs onto my lap with a book.

Does Alice insist you read the same books over and over? Charlotte has a lot of books and she's in library so we get new books from there often, but she still has a select few that she insists you read over and over again. Buster's birthday is her current favourite and you have to lift present flaps up to see what his friends bought for him. She knows what's in the presents by heart, so sometimes I blue-tak other pictures underneath when she's not looking, so she gets a surprise when she lifts the flap and instead of marbles, it's a tin of beans :rotfl:

Fab idea!! :T. I'm going to try :D.

Songs! I love singing and dancing and so does Poppy. If she hears Lady GaGa she stops what she is doing and dances her heart out! :o. Not sure about some of the music videos though so we stick to radio and CD's!.

    Can I recommend http://www.babyboomboom.com

We have the Spanish and French versions and they are just fab!

I remember vividly feeding a few day old Poppy in my glider chair listening to David Grey's 'You're the world to me' with tears in my eyes and feeling the happiest woman alive. I still sing it lots now to both Poppy and Jamie and it does seem to have a calming effect.

DH says my iPod was a waste of money as I only listen to the same few albums over and over! :rotfl:

grrrr. people downstairs are playing the stones really loudly. Much as I love "Angie", it really is unnecessary for them to play it so loudly I can not only recognise what they are listening to, but sing along!!! At least Izzy doesn't seem bothered by it - she is fast asleep and DH is asleep on the sofa, but I'd quite like to go to sleep to. I'm a far lighter sleeper than them.

Oh, on foreign music - our library has loads of kids world music cds from http://www.putumayo.com/. We are working our way through them, and particularly enjoyed New Orleans playground :)
