Much much sympathy nadnad we've had a pap day too, Celia has been so changeable she's gone from piddling herself laughing to proper crying in the blink of an eye and both won't be put down and doesn't want to be held! I think it's teething but I wish those teeth would hurry the chuff up!

Lwcus, I have a wakeful child too, she can be anywhere from once or twice a night to every half hour recently. Have you read Elizabeth Pantley's book? I found the tips in there really useful!

Much sympathy from me too Nadnad as I have had many, many days like that with Tom. They seem to be getting far fewer as he gets older though, thank goodness!

Wakeful children, sorry can't help either. After two fab sleepers Tom is the most wakeful child I've ever met. He wakes at least twice a night but it can be a lot more on a bad night. He goes to bed no bother at all and settles himself to sleep and when he wakes up in the night he's easily settled but it's just the constant interruptions to our sleep that is the hard bit. If it had been like this with DS and DD I wouldn't have minded so much but I need my beauty sleep these days! I'm off to London overnight next Friday, leaving Tom with just OH for the first time and I'm not so bothered about the leal or seeing Mamma Mia but can't wait for a whole night sleep!

Yes, I've read the book. The truth is I know what the problem is, its the side affects of the medication he's taking for the relux. He's not comfortable, suffering from wind, stomach gripes. There's a long list of side effects to the medication including headches, stomach pain, dizziness... the list goes on and on so for him to wake that often there must be something wrong. It seems to me that I have a choice of either stopping his med and then he'll be screaming in pain every night with blisters in his mouth from the acid or leaving him on the medication but not able to sleep due to other symptoms.
I just want him to grow out of this reflux as I cant take the lack of sleep any longer. I average 2hrs sleep a night.
He's still not asleep despite us trying to settle him since 7pm.
I'm feeling soo sorry for myself. I think I'll have a cry and then I might feel better.:o

ps hope you're enjoying the take away Nad x

I know it is an expense but have you considered buying a hammock for him? There is a thread on here, I bumped it earlier today reporting back on our success with Benjamin in his, there is a lady on there that had a baby with reflux who swears by her hammock....

*runs away to find a link*

Edit - here is the thread

...as I say, it is an expense, mine was about £75 but they do sell well on ebay....

Edit again - I think it is the day for it, I have an overtired boy who keeps waking (thank god for the bouncing hammock)

    ((HUGS)) to everyone

Hello all, hope those grumpy babies are happier for you tomorrow!

I have big news from our house which I'm doing my best to not get excited about :p
Christopher has done a wee on the potty twice now :T
yesterday when I was changing his nappy he just said "Mummy I wee on potty" so I put him on and used the loo myself much to my surprise he weed along with me!
Then today OH was on the loo and Chris went in so OH asked if he needed the potty and he said yes and produced another big wee.
Possibly the worst timing ever so I'm not doing anything to en/dis courage him particularly but secretly got my fingers crossed he'll gradually get there on his own :undecided

Is there a baby led P/T thing like with baby led weaning?

MFD, I got my hammock, an amby... for free! :j I loves it, just hope the lil lady loves it too when she arrives :D

Sami, yes, DS1 decided he was ready for toilet training. Although he did go through the phase of peeing against the fence cos the dog did that... but it was all him.

Yay - well done Chris :j

James just decided he didn't want to wear nappies anymore and refused to have them on, and that was potty training done overnight :D He did have them on at night for a while until I was sure he could hold it overnight, and we used the pull up's pants if we were going long distances or places where I wasn't sure how near public toilets were!

Charlotte is showing some interest in toilets. She points out my knickers when I get dressed or I'm at the loo and I tell her I wear knickers because I do wee's in the toilet. She seems to be understanding but is still wanting nappies on. She also wants a bra but she's a bit young for that :rotfl:

Sorry to hear about the grumpy babies - hope the wake up in better moods tomorrow.

We've had a singing day and she's sang songs about everything I've touched or done today. It sounds lovely and it was this morning, but by this evening I was getting a bit sick and was pleased when she went to bed :o
Here I go again on my own....

Thanks ladies, I'm feeling very proud of my boy :D

Becles would you like to swap for a bit? Chris can often be heard saying "No Mummy! Stop singing!" :rotfl: he thinks he's Simon Cowell :p at least I know its not just my bad singing coz my sis has a lovely voice and he did the same to her today :)

Both of mine just sort of decided themselves. I can't remember it really being any trouble. DD got to the point where she would go and get a nappy, remove her old one and lie down on the new one and try to fasten it. We decided then she could probably cope with not wearing nappies! But then she was almost two. DS was around 18 months when he started making a fuss about making a nappy and he toilet trained really quickly.

Plus none of them ever had a potty; we just got a step and a seat and they used the toilet straight away, which I'm grateful for as I didn't fancy emptying and cleaning a potty. Having said that, with both of them we didn't seem to get a private wee for years so they had plenty of experience seeing what you are supposed to do! (And now that I have Tom private wees are a thing of the past again ... unless I'm at work obviously!)

In fact, I don't remember potty training as being a big deal at all which probably means we are due to have a major fuss with Tom this time (though plenty of time for all that in the future!)

When I used to sing in the car my DS used to ask me to put the radio on instead... but know that was because of my terrible singing voice!
