Thanks Js_other_half - I have looked and there seems to be one in Stoke - just the opposite end of the city

Krystaltips - I went to the drop in centre once but as I have now moved houses and the HV here work in zones I'm no longer covered by her, she has given me the new to the HV who's zone I now come into but she has never answered the phone when I've called and never responded to any messages I've left. If I had any serious issues I'd be the first to call my old HV up - zone or no zone!!! But for trivial things I know how hard they work so I don't want bother her (does that sound really bad!! - I don't mean it too, I would always put Ethan first but I've been put off asking for help as when I have in the past - I've been made to feel like an inconvienance)

Ah I understand... Might be worth asking at the Drs when the baby clinic is on and just dropping in... It's not right of the health visitor to leave you without support... They might be very busy, but every baby and Mum is as important as the next one...
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Thanks Krystaltips - didn't want to turn into a "Woe is me" post. I'm luckier than most with a beautiful (I'm bias) healthy boy.

R Mac i saw you wanted a tripp trapp, so did we but couldn't afford so we got this http://www.kiddicare.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/productdisplayA_0_10751_-1__4154_10001_

And we are still using (without the tray) it, millie is 5 and a half and still uses it, I really liked it because she could sit at the table with us even when really small and its great for getting them so sit in when you are doing anything at the table (colouring in, painting etc).

    how old is charlotte?

She'll be two on Tuesday. Got various relatives coming round for a tea party. However husband's Aunt told us today that she's got shingles. I feel bad saying she can't come, but Charlotte hasn't had chicken pox and I'm worried in case she catches it as we go on holiday in a few weeks.

Nearly finished the wallpapering. It's a huge through room, with a sort of wide arch between the two rooms, and I've just got the fiddly bits to do round that bit in the morning. Hubby has built some of the new display cabinets and he'll finish them off tomorrow. Put the old cabinets on Freecycle and a young couple came and took them away. They've just got their first home and have nothing, so they were over the moonwith them. I'm pleased they went to a good home.
Here I go again on my own....

DH took Imogen to the loos while we were out. There wasn't one in the baby room so he took her into the gents. She was happy enough to go on the toilet until she saw a man enter and stand at the urinals. To which she promptly declared that she wanted to wee standing up :rotfl:When DH told her it was never going to work like that she seemed a bit disappointed!
    She needs a shewee. :rotfl:

Highchairs and straps: if you don't find the straps 'work' well for you, there are usually a couple of D rings on the chair (or there used to be!) to which you can attach the harness from a set of reins.

Sami, not long now eh? Have you got everything you need? Are you going to try the vitamin boosters? Is your mum on hand or will she be with Christopher? x
    ...
only 4 and a bit weeks now:eek: I have just this week realised that being pregnant again means in a bit I'll have a beautiful screaming pooping bundle to look after again too!! We've got everything - I think just need to get it all washed/put together/arranged and my friend keeps forgetting to return the crib I loaned her but even if we don't get it in time its no biggy coz we've got a moses basket too (loaned from another friend ;) we have a little circle of us who have cleverly timed our babies so we can all loan things of each other at different stages)
I have liquid vitamin stuff at the ready and I'm plumping for a homebirth so My mum will be with me and Chris can meet his lil' bro as soon as he arrives (BIDIY allowing:o I've stuck a rocket up OH's bum as if we don't get at least half the stuff done it will make it difficult to have HB and I've set my heart on one now!)
I've got my parentcraft classes starting again on Tuesday and Mum is coming as OH reckons he knows it all now  and its all the labour stuff like coping with pain etc

Thanks for info Fritha :) I've only got one feeding top as have managed to not need many new tops so have been saving my money but I'll need some soon!
I put on my old nursing bra yesterday and even though it the right size on the label it felt awful and who's idea was it o put a massive itchy seam across the cup right where your nip goes!:p

Any ladies got any recommendations for feeding PJs? do you recomend just wearing those feeding vests? I was freezing when feeding Chris at night but he was a Jan baby so I'm assuming it will be warmer in June :undecided

R.mac If I was to do it all again I would go for a cheap highchair like the one in the baby event! I got a Chicco polly because its won loads of awards but we only used in for about 9 months and although it all comes apart for cleaning it was a right faff taking the millions of bits apart to get them all clean, the chair we have at my mums is a cheap one that you could just pop on the patio and hose down if you wanted and much better IMHO.
We also have a tripp trapp style one at MILs from M&P but they don't make it anymore, its nice and should last a while, probs I have with it are that I don't think it would be comfy for a small baby at 6mths old as its rigid and as the tray is fixed if bubs decides to do the locked knees thing you can't get them in it:p HTH
The very best is sometimes what nature gives us for free.

Was it choc asking about life-jacket-type things with something between the legs to stop 'Houdini kids'? Well, whoever, what about this one from Mothercare? http://www.mothercare.com/Swimsafe-Float-suit-1-2yrs-Pink/dp/B001O45RTK/sr=1-19/qid=1241285318/ref=sr_1_19/279-1857300-3531503?%5Fencoding=UTF8&m=A2LBKNDJ2KZUGQ&n=42764041&mcb=core I noticed it in their catalogue last night.

Thanks - that's pretty much what I want but I want a blue version. I have seen them from a couple of shops but always to order, never in stock.

Hi sami - what's with the vitamins? Have I missed some essential tip? Are they for you or LO?

Did anyone hear about that 'genius' child on Radio 2 this week? She's 2.5, can recite the alphabet, many nursery rhymes and reel off the capitals of foreign countries. I didn't hear all of the piece, but apparently she's the youngest member of Mensa and from a very normal family. Her parents are a bit shocked about how bright she is. The discussion centred around whether she is also having a 'normal' childhood. One of the experts talked about a maths genius who was on TV doing amazing equations but when they showed him a picture of a hat he couldn't name it

I don't agree with 'hothousing' which just sounds like child abuse to me, but I do think you should do everything you can to keep your child stimulated and that means working at their pace.

Imogen can read all the letters of the alphabet, last count she could recite more than 20 nursery rhymes from memory and that's going up all the time and her chatter is non-stop - including increasingly difficult questions and an emerging sense of humour. However, she can also name all of the Teletubbies, ITNG characters and many others that I've never seen (thanks MIL!) Her fave toy is her flashcards and she's currently sat putting together her crocadile jigsaw which is made up of all the letters of the alphabet. She's now at the stage where we only have to prompt a little to get her to see what letter is next, but that's out of practise rather than aome kind of extra-ordinary genius.

(Trying not to sound like a pushy mum here, but we really are just working to her level)

Anyway, that's my essay for this morning. Hope you're all enjoying the sunshine.
