Hi all. Internet's been off so just catching up.
Thanks for all the good wishes. As expected I didn't get the job - this is a good thing - but I did get some good preliminary feedback - which is also a good thing!
I just wanted to do a good job in the interview and show them that I could do it, but, as the job is a 12-month assignment and I'm v.v.v. broody, it wouldn't have been very convenient to have been offered it. And to turn it down if offered it would have been career suicide! So I'm dead pleased.
Imogen is getting more books for Xmas. OH wants to get her a kitchen as she loves pretend cooking, but I'm not sure where we'd put it! We bought her a trike for her first Xmas and she loves it. It will go with her until she's 3 and ready for a proper bike. We also bought her a lovely book of nursery rhymes and a Dr Seuss book (she loves books!).
My parents are buying for her new bedroom (we're having an extension), probably one of those nice height charts, and MIL is buying a doll's house to stay at hers as she looks after her 2 days a week.
My dad bought her a really nice limited edition name picture for her first birthday/Xmas (she's a Boxing Day baby!)MSE Parent Club Member #1Yummy slummy mummy club member50% slummy, 50% mummy, 100% proudImogen born Boxing Day 2006Alex born 13 July 20090 -
Hello! Can I join?
I had my first baby on 5 October, he is perfect and I can't stop looking at him! We are breastfeeding which is going well (he has put on LOADS of weight) and co-sleeping which is a godsend, he sleeps fairly well anyway. He hates baths and being changed but he loves cuddles. I had a long labour but am recovering now, perhaps I will go and update that secrets of pregnancy and birth post hehehe...I don't believe and I never did that two wrongs make a right0 -
Hello and welcome foreversomeday Congrats on the birth of your wee man. When you get round to it add his name to your signature, just makes it easier for us all to remember LO names.Everyone is entitled to their opinionEllie 25/12/070

Christmas
I still have to get through Samantha's first birthday. Quite looking forward to it. we don't have any family or many friends, so she'll just be getting stuff from us. Figuring a my first baby annabel and some sort of ride on car / bike ... anyone think these are not good ideas ???
My childminding career took a tiny step forward today. We have now finished all the 'external' trademen jobs so it is just a list as long as my arm for DH to finish off before we can send off our application forms. Bless poor DH, he did his back in a few weeks ago (courtesy the patio - which is still 1/3 done) so had a week off then and then he got a huge abcess on his arm, and that was another week off work but he just wasn't well enough during his time off to do anything except a few coats of paint on the banisters. Anyhow, don't expect to be in a position to apply until at least the new year.0 -
She ended up with bright pink trainers with flashy lights on. She thought they were marvellous and ran round the shop stamping in front of each mirror :rotfl:Baybee1984 wrote: »Im struggling with Xmas present ideas too, my DS has everything [altho doesnt deserve it at the mo!]
I'm sure you haven't stopped loving your DS, even though he's not perfect right now, and you're struggling with some things. Mine are older than yours, and I've really struggled with my youngest, because he is SO different to his brothers, who are different to each other. And what scares me at times is the thought that he might think he wasn't as good as them, or good enough for us to love him.
Because I do love him to bits, especially when he's asleep ...
As for not knowing what to buy them, remember you don't HAVE to spend a fortune. Tiddlers will like the boxes and wrapping paper as much as what's inside, and bigger ones can understand that there's only so much money to go round. By all means ask what they'd like, but why not also make a game of it? I was talking to someone the other day whose family agree not to spend much more than £5 on each other, and this year all the presents have to begin with the letter H, for example. I know it's older children involved there, but it's something I think is never too young to start - traditions, games, FUN!
I am, by the way, fortunate that mine don't mind if I spend more on one than another these days. And say they'd rather have the money, and if grandma doesn't want to give them money that's fine, they'd rather go without than have something they don't want ... May you all be so blessed! In time, of course!Signature removed for peace of mind0
