Sure start is probably the cheapest way to do a course, pretty sure it was £5 ish at Sure Start but we paid £35 ish (tell me if im wrong Choc!) to do the same thing on a different day :o

I didnt think much to the classes and wouldnt do them again but its worth a try. We are going to try a music class and swimming class next.

Natasha was spoilt again at Easter (not by us) and even though I told people not to buy her eggs she got eight but my parents bought her some little Happyland figures to add to her collection which is much better than a egg. I did give her some chocolate which she loved but have hid them now as she keeps asking for MORE!

My Dad asked my older two whether they wanted an Egg or money for Easter. DD asked for an egg and got one of the ones being sold for a pound (as did Tom but erm... I accidently ate his); DS asked for money, received a fiver, bought an egg for a pound and pocketed the rest. The boy wil go far!

    Me too!

    Ha, that is brilliant :)
Izzy was given 2 summer dresses by MIL and one from SIL. they keep buying her clothes the next size up - I don't know if she will be in them for long enough to wear them all, but never mind ;) At least with the dresses it doesn't matter if they are a bit big - we have a wedding to go to end of May so we can put her in 1 frock and take the other two in case of accidents ;)

The worst missizing we were given is a beach wear set (made in that uvf 50 fabric) - it is age 9-12. I don't think we will be taking her to the beach between October and January somehow! It was from a family in New Zealand, so I don't know if they got muddled or just didn't think it through. Not that she can't wear them I suppose, just under a jumper or two.

We only live in a 2 bed flat, so I'm dreading christmas - no idea where we will put all our presents, as no doubt grandparents will go overboard. DH is already talking about putting money asside so we can spend £200 on her. We come fron completely different ends of the spectrum about christmas - I was planning about £40! (I couldn't believe all these presents were for me the first time I spent Christmas with his family. They do big presents and tv, we do smaller presents and board games . I'm hoping we can be somewhere in the middle.) That's a bit far away to worry about though.

Which music class are you thinking of trying?
  • Not sure of the name of it but its more musical instruments than singing, I think. I will find out the name later......do you think Tom would like it?

I was looking for a dance type thing as a friend of a friend does 'boogey babies' but the ones I have enquired about are from 2 years around here.

I have bought a swimsuit as I keep promising I will take her swimming but I look like a big fat sausage  Im just going to go though as I dont want her to miss out because of me.

  • Forgot to add, we figured out how to contain Natasha in the caravan and my dad finished it off last night. We have basically chopped the legs off her spare cot sized cot, added a sheet of wood to the bottom of the single bed and bolted the cot to it :D

It looks a bit mad with a cot in but is perfectly safe and works. We were planning to go away this weekend but the electric side of the heating isnt working now so its going back to the dealers....... I dread to think what they think when they see our handywork :rotfl:

This reminded me of OH's first Christmas as part of my family- bless him I thought he was gonna wet himself with excitement!!:rotfl:
My mum LOVES Christmas and everyone gets a stocking filled with lots of little presents, a satsuma and some shiny pennies too ;) plus their main present and we all just dig in, paper flies everywhere and then we all show each other what we got and have a play with them. At OH's family they take it in turns to open a present each - bboooorrrring :p I was most miffed when I wasn't allowed to rip straight into my gifts the first year and had to wait for everyone else to open something before I got my 2nd :(

My baby signing class was free through sure start so I can't complain about getting my monies-worth!

I'm with you Sami, on the cheap toy issue! My mum is more of a quantity over quality type of person. She brings round a whole bin bag (or two) full of toys for christmas, most of which either just don't work properly or break within minutes of opening them, it drives me mad, as we are the ones looking at the kids upset faces when a toy that looks great fun (to them) won't work or breaks:mad: ladybird, we spent over £250 on each of them at christmas:eek::eek: Wasn't meant to it just worked out that way...and they ended up getting nearly £300 cash in christmas cards too:eek::eek: Although I still have most of that put aside.

ella - well done on the creative thinking with the cot. I hope you get to use it soon;)

I went into my local sure start children's centre, and picked up a timetable of activities, they have stopped the stay and play (mums and tots) group for a while, but are due to start up a Jo Jingles music group..they also do aerobics for mums with free creche, parenting course, baby massage, messy play, childminders group and the one I am going to phone up and ask about is baby group?? I have no idea what it is but if it is just like a mums and tots group for babies, then I will probably go to it.
I like the idea of Jo Jingles, althouh Kai is probably too young at the moment. I have never really been interested in baby massage, but might consider it just for something to get out of the house and do!
