nadnad, it's lovely when they start talking, isn't it? We've been doing baby sign languauge so alongside the words we're getting signs as well. We went to the coast on Sunday and it was freezing and Tom signed "cold" for the first time. The face he pulled was so funny we've spent the last two days saying to him "Are you cold, Tom?" so he'll do it again. It never gets any less funny!
He understands so many words now as well, but it's hard to say whether it's the word or sign that he knows as I do them both together. Funnily enough (or not!) a lot of the words he knows are types of food and he can find the right place to find each of them as well. Oh, and he's just learned "NO" accompanied by a very emphatic head shake - I'm sure we'll be seeing a lot more of that one!
I'd like to try this. It was on meet the foulkers. How did you learn?x0 -
Im loving Natasha's talking, she is so clever, its amazing.
She likes things that are stucKK at the minute and telling everyone she is ONE, even putting her finger up at the same timeIm not sure how, but she has a really posh accent and sounds very posh telling me what she wants.
Would love another two babies but hate the pregnancy bit..... may just bite the bullet and go for it once Natasha is a little bit older and I have forgotten the months of sickness lol:heart: I love my gorgeous little girl0 -
Anyone mind if I have a little rant? Its really bugging me now!
We went to the inlaws on Easter Sunday and Poppy and my nephew each got a big bag full of goodies such as clothes, DVD's, egg, etc. And Jamie received a little bag containing a beach towel.
Its annoying me that my children are being treated differently but is this what happens when you have more than one? My own family wouldn't dream of doing this as we have always received the same so its quite alien to me. I'm wondering whether it was done so SIL doesn't think my two got more than her son but I would have preferred two smaller bags for Poppy and Jamie.
I know they are far to young to know who gets what! :rotfl:. But I never want one to think they are favoured more than the other when they're older.

The first thing I thought of was the age gap between Poppy and James..... maybe they thought James was too young for the same sized gift as the others
How old is the nephew? I love my gorgeous little girl0 -
Thanks, ella. My nephew is only a few months younger than Poppy so maybe thats their reasoning?

I can see why you are peeved with them treating your children differently but they gave Poppy and her cousin the same gift which seems to suggest that as Jamie is only a few months old he got the beach towel so he wasnt left out IYSWIM.
Sorry I wrote James earlier! I love my gorgeous little girl0 -

The one I did is called Signing Tots but I think it may be a local version. There are a few different baby signing classes around. Try googling it or ask at your local surestart. Tom can do quite a few signs eg hot, cold, all gone, milk, light, pig, more, down, bubbles, bath, no etc but as I said earlier he understands a lot more than that.
It was quite funny earlier as I was going to change his nappy and told him to go and get one. He got the nappy and wipes, then dragged his changing mat to the middle of the floor, flopped down on it and stuck his legs in the air. Strange though as I don't use a changing mat (I change him across my knee) but OH does...maybe he thought his Dad should change the nappy!0 -

Tom likes the singing but doesn't really sign much at the classes. (I forgot, he also signs Thank you but he uses it to mean he wants you to give him something).
I really like the signing to use at school. At the end of the day when we have a story we've done the signs to "Brownn Bear, Brown Bear, What do you see?" and my whole class picked it up in no time at all. I also taught them the signs for happy, sad, tired, excited etc and on a morning I can ask How are you? and they can all sign how they are feeling. It means I can pick up their mood without them having to say and I can see who has come to school not very happy which can affect their learning. I suppose signing isn't for everyone but I like it.0
