Well, the first 24 hours of trying to wean Tom off breastfeeding is over. Distraction worked a few times and he understands all-gone so I've told him that a few times. We've had a couple of episodes of crying but not the angry tantrum-pulling-at-my-clothing-crying that I was expecting, more sad, nobody-loves-me, sobbing-on-my-shoulder crying.

He was vaguely interested in a cup of milk at bedtime, although he kept trying to give OH a drink of it and OH HATES milk! I did have to give in half way through the night after he woke up and wouldn't resettle for ages, after which he slept for 6 hours (longer than he ever usually goes) and it gave my swollen boob (just the one, the one he feeds from the most!!) some relief!

    Well done chocaholic :)

Don't worry about the night feeding, sometimes we choose the easiest route just to get more sleep! As he gets the message it will get easier :)
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Well last night was 'fun' Chris wouldn't go to bed until nearly 9pm and then was up at 12, 2 and 3:45am no idea why - I thought it could be his teeth but he refused any medicine which he usually accepts when he's in pain.
I couldn't get him up this morning either so he got a nice lie in until 9am when I was up n dressed to let the decorator in at 8am

    Well done choc

I completely understand you 'giving in' in the middle of the night. The only thing that crossed my mind when I read your post, is that it may be confusing telling him it is all-gone, yet then hey presto! it's there in the night when he makes a fuss.

But he is only young so probably won't remember what's is said to him from one moment to the next:) Just wanted to say aswell, I have no experience of how hard it must be to give up BF as all of mine have been FF. And well done for keeping it up for so long:D

Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,
Nothing is going to get better. It's not.

How are you and Benjamin doing?

    Mel x

We are mostly doing okay. Benjamin has caught my cold so he is pretty unhappy today he is struggling to feed very well with a blocked up nose and is really fighting sleep so we have had a bit of a battle of wills (which he won of course :o).

Nighttimes aren't generally too bad, he seems to have settled into feeds at 10ish, 3.30 then 6.30.

All in all he is not a bad little boy...and he is simply gorgeous :D

All this talk of TTC is not helping me trying to pretend my broody feelings are not there :D

i dont know what this lot have been telling you... but im talking about NOT ttc! :rotfl:
  • SB we had a bad night too - up at midnight for 2 hours, huge explosive poo which woke us both up at 3am (not her reaction to it waking me up, but the poo itsself :rotfl:) so had to do a nappy change and another feed. I thought that would do it till the morning, but she woke up again at 5am too!

Went off to the doctors this morning and then we both went back to bed until 1/2 hour ago and have been feeding again since then. I might get around to eating lunch/washing up/brushing my hair at some point before tea time if I'm lucky ;)
