Question: How did you get your LO's to clean their teeth, we try every night but Henry prefers to turn the toothbrush around and chew on it!!!

I always clean Charlottes first and do a silly Mummy scrub scrub scrub song, then she has a go and it's the Charlie scrub scrub song :o

I did that with the boys until they got to the age when I could trust them to do it by themselves without my help. Now they are heading towards the teenage fear of the bathroom stage, I'm tempted to start doing it again with them :rotfl:

re bedtime, I let him stay up 4-5 hours after his nap. This can be anything from 7.30 to 10pm. No routine here whatsoever.

April Fools - told hubby I was pregnant this morning but instead of freaking out, which would be a funnier joke, he was really happy . I never felt so bad in my life :rotfl:. Though his reaction did give me hope for the future ;).

oooh i couldnt function without knowing that come 7pm Oz will be sleeping and I have some me time! sometimes (on a bad day) i'm counting down the hours til 5pm tea time, 6pm OH home, then he takes over and I breathe a sigh of relief!! :o

Agutka - aww poor hubby did he gets all excited?! dont know when we'll have another one but my OH doesnt mind he says he's ready whenever, just depends when i'm brave enough to face a possible 6 months of severe morning (all day) sickness!!

  • Hi all -

bailey, hope you feel better and heal soon.

bedtimes - can I ask when you all first implemented your routines?

Midwife discharged us today, but not before Benjamin wee'd all over her :T

Benjamin has put on 10 oz in the last 5 days  I clearly am pumping out gold top!!

Went out for a lovely walk this afternoon, including a pub lunch for me and hubby (who has managed to spend the last 2 days at home with us :D ). I love my Stokke and we get compliments everywhere we go but I wish it had suspension!!

We are off to my work tomorrow (a 45 min drive - wish me luck) to let Benjamin work his charms on the ladies there!

when Oz was 7 weeks we decided to try a sort of routine - it started with a bath then feed then bed at around 9pm, then gradually as we got to know his little signs we realised he was tired earlier and his bedtime moved forward and up til about 2 weeks ago it was 6.30pm now its 7pm or so. I wouldn't worry too much about a rigid routine but bath, feed, bed is always good and just take cues from your baby as to when the right bed time is for them.

I've never heard of a Stokke but just looked it up and its really funky!! My quinny looks antiquated compared to that!!

Baby will probably sleep for your journey to work - and then hopefully wake up nice and refreshed and happy just as you get there so all the ladies will coo!

Bailey - hope everything heals quickly for you.

Becles - I always did that with my two...me brush first then they have a go. Now they are 6 and 8 I still watch them while they are brushing and Luca hates brushing his teeth, so does such a half-@rsed job of it I still grab the brush and give them a good scrub myself!!!

Bed-time - My two older boys go to bed one at a time as they share a room and mess about if they go at the same time. Younger one goes at 7.30-7.45, older one goes 8-8.15. Kai goes at various times!!

MFD - Wow, go you, with your premium milk:D Good luck with your journey tomorrow, and enjoy all the attention that will be lavished on you and Benjamin.

I did the same as nadnad. From birth it was warm bath, then low lighting and last feed and into bed. It happened around 11pm at birth, and gradually it got earlier and earlier as she started sleeping longer through the night.

Charlotte is 22 months now and she has a bath around 7pm, then a cup of warm milk while we look quietly at books and she's into bed between 7.30pm-8pm. I'll drop the milk when she stops wearing a nappy at night to prevent accidents.

I did the same with my boys and they still do it now at 10 and 12 - warm bath, read books for a bit, then into bed (well apart from tonight as Joshua wants to stop up to watch the England match!)

Ta all.. I will stop worrying about tummy time (or at least find something else to worry about instead ;) ) and just do what we can get away with! Izzy has not just a bald spot, but a bald stripe across the back of her head. I'm sure it will grow back though :)

Her favourite thing at the mo is row-row-row your boat. All 6 verses as we've learned at the library :) If I get bored I will make up some more verses too, seeing as she loves it so much!

Re bedtime, we do bath (with daddy if he is home, so I can get tea on), then into sleeping bag, a feed and bed. At the moment it tends to be bed, wake up again, feed a bit more, then back to bed again. After the second time she will normally stay asleep, but since the clocks changing it has taken 3 or 4 attempts each time, so I've not been managing to get her down till about 8:30. I'm sure in a week or so it will calm down again, and we can get her down a bit earlier again!

We've been off to see great grandad today, and went out for my 3rd pub meal since Saturday. It's all been a bit manic. And on Friday we're off to introduce Izzy to her great granny up in Staffordshire :) With any luck, normal service will be resumed next week!

Ladybird - 6 verses ??? I only know of 4 or five but they are separate versions, would you share?
The longest one has the crocodile, lion and polar bear in it

  • ok, you have the normal verse
    then
gently down the stream if you see a crocodile don't forget to scream (aaargh)
gently to and fro, watch out give a shout, into the water you go (splash) (or down to the bottom you go... either fits)
gently to the shore, if you see a lion don't forget to roar (raaaah)
gently down the creak, if you see a little mouse don't forget to squeek (eek)
gently down the river, if you see a polar bear don't forget to shiver (brrrrrr)

I always do the traditional verse first, and the crocodile one last, and the rest in whatever order I think of them. She likes shivering best, closely followed by falling in the river ;)
