Oh my, we had a performance last night. She stayed awake pretty much all of the day, then we had to go to the in-laws in the evening. Normally she will fall asleep on my lap there (or let me put her down in the car seat if I'm lucky) but she was so over tired she wouldn't sleep and ended up throwing a mega tantrum. Nothing would calm her down, so we had to run out of the door and she fell asleep in the car before we even got onto the motorway. When we got home she woke up again, but it didn't take long to get her back to sleep and she slept for 7 hours! She's still nackered now, but seeing as we're going to be in the car for 4 hours or so today, that is probably no bad thing ;)

I will let you know next week how our first weekend away goes. Have a fab weekend everyone :)

Hope you have a lovely weekend away.

Do think of me stuck at home still stripping wallpaper  :D I do actually enjoy DIY so it's not that much of a chore really.
Here I go again on my own....

On the subject of decorating, I've got to get a border off Izzy's walls - its got a sort of vinyl coating thing going on. Any tips? I thought about soaking it but I'm not sure that the coating thing is going to absorb anything...

I'm not exactly Mrs DIY and my husband is even worse than me!! Hence why I'm asking here and not on the DIY pages where they'll probably confuse me with DIY speak :rotfl:

ooh beccles there's something satisfying about stripping wallpaper isn't there?! if only putting the paper up was as much fun! :rotfl:
Thankfully MIL is paying for a decorator to come and do our kitchen :j Just waiting for 2nd quote to come through and then we can pick which one :D

Well you'll all be glad to know that the 2nd night of bed with no sides went super :T obviously 2 nights of staying up past 10pm made sleep win! I'm sure tonight will be hard because Chris always plays up on the 3rd night  but I'm ready for him!! I shall not be beaten! :p

I'm not likeing the current topic on "The Wright Stuff" they're saying that having a brother isn't as good as having a sister, I have a feeling they mean girls with brothers not boys with brothers tho but we shall see... I'm sure I'll find plenty holes in their argument to make me happy to have 2 boys ;)

You'll prob find that the vinyl coating comes off in one massive piece leaving you with the backing paper to strip as normal ;)
you could score it to help the water/steam get behind it but then the vinyl will come of in bits which I find more work than a bit of water/steam and pulling the top layer off in one :D
    Does that make sense?

  • Have a lovely weekend away ladybird :D

purple - I would score it too (but not all the way to the edges ;) ) - I agree with sami that you will prob find all the top layer comes off in one piece once you get started...maybe you can get most of it off in one go if you score the middle section.

We had a 'bad' night last night with Benjamin waking every 2-3 hours demanding to be fed. Think that it might have been because he had a long nap 4-7.30pm and then another 8.30-10.30pm instead of doing his usual trick and feeding all evening...now at least I know which I prefer.

Got to try and book a docs appointment today because I am bleeding bright red blood after having practically tailed off completely twice  its not overly heavy but the HV and MW both said go to docs if it started again.

    Morning All

Not had anything much to say the last couple of days.

Kai seems to be doing great, he is a right greedy guts I just had to go and get him the variable flow teats as he was wearing himself out sucking so hard on the newborn ones, at least now he can get the milk as fast or as slow as he wants it. He is pretty much drinking 5oz bottles every feed now, my friends 5mth old is only on 6oz bottles!!!!!

He is also missing a bottle out most nights, so he usually has one at 8pm then goes to bed about 9-930 and instead of waking at 12pm for his next one he sleeps right through until 3-4am drinks the whole lot and goes straight back to sleep!! It's nice while he is doing this, but I definitely do not expect it and always prepare myself for him to be waking up a few times:)

Well done Chris staying in bed last night, hope he continues to be good for you Sami:) Also Sami, as you see you two boys growing up together and playing together like best friends, you will be very happy to have two boys:D

Ladybird - have a lovely weekend away, I'm sure you will all have a great time:D

MFD - Hope you get in at the docs today. How did your trip to work go the other day?? Did they all love Benjamin:D

OK, I've scored meat, but never wallpaper! Are we talking the same procedure, sharp knife making lines in it, top to bottom? Across horizontally? Both??

Sorry, told you I was rubbish!

Just don't score too deep or you'll leave lines in the plaster!

  • Just come back from the Dr's with Jamie. He started with a cough last night as well as his cold and I didn't want to be worrying all weekend. But he's fine, apparently! Chest, ears and temp all ok so just have to wait for it to go on its own and give Calpol when I think he needs it.

I used to think I'd be thought of as a panicy first time Mummy taking Poppy to the Dr's but now I think, stuff it, my peace of mind is far more important! :)

    xx
